William just got the face of his father and Elias now has a new last name and corrected birthdate. All this was done through my branch of the NHL2K editor by snowdrift.

This is really awesome as the game has a large amount of face models for older players that we now can replace with new textures so that we don't need to re-use the "default" faces for many players. It is also possible to change the player face of any player to whatever you want. Who knows, perhaps we might even find hidden classic faces in the game?
New textures are good and all, but the biggest part of what this means is we can change one face to another. this helps for NHL 2K games that can't be modded like 2K10.

Exactly.

Putting any face on any player is one of the best improvements now possible since it has never been possible on 2K10 or 2K11 before.

Same goes for birthdates.

Re: NHL2K editing (technical discussion)

There is a branch in the repo now that has support for most attributes and now also calculates and updates the crc32 checksum automatically for the WII version.

I am looking for csv files with NHL information now that I can use to automate importing data into the game. From HUTDB.net it was pretty simple to copy-paste data from these pages: http://hutdb.net/20/players & http://hutdb.net/20/goalies
These pages dont seem to currently have all player cards though...

I could use http://hutdb.net/19/players & http://hutdb.net/19/goalies to get more players but those stats are messed up due to all boosted 99 cards etc and there are in total 87 pages to manually copy-paste (I don't want to do that)...

But I need more info like birthdates, numbers, etc...

Any suggestions on good sites that might have an easy export function even perhaps?

Re: NHL2K editing (technical discussion)

Thanks for the tip. I currently use the roster pages from hockey-reference.com, they give what I need but I miss players and I have to do a lot of copy-paste.
Quant hockey just show ages not birth dates.

I have successfully written a small tool to merge the 2Kexport.csv with any other csv by mapping columns to columns and using firstname+lastname as key. Tried importing to existing players from hockey-reference and hutdb data. Imported it and simmed an entire season without problems.

Re: NHL2K editing (technical discussion)

At this point thanks to you and Snowdrift's efforts I don't have much left to ask for.

Maybe some Franchise features like changing the year, draft classes and contracts. and of course the GUI like I mentioned before.

But the thing I'm most curious about is NHL 2K9. I don't own the game so I can't generate a default roster file for it and there are none online. if the editor works with that it would be really cool because it could potentially revive a dead game.

Maybe someone with NHL 2K9 can export their default roster and try it? or post the roster for us to try it with? since the editor worked with NHL 2K11 after some changes the curiosity is killing me.

Re: NHL2K editing (technical discussion)

Changing teams of players would be nice to get into the editor still, that's a basic feature still missing.
But running sim in franchise mode really points out the fact that contract length and value would be nice to change aswell. However, I will concentrate on making the player import work well first.

Re: NHL2K editing (technical discussion)

Seems like max length of names for players are 16 characters.
This means for storage we also need one extra position to end the string with a 0. Means 17 characters in total...

I thought it was less...
