Full 20 Minute Periods (NHL 2K10)

Might not be the perfect formula, but this might be the closest I've gotten to full 20 minute periods without inflated shot totals or breakaways (well, latter, is always a challenge). It's primarily a combination of sliders and the team strategies that you need to set up for both teams. Certainly not going to be for everyone, but I haven't been able to accomplish 20 min. periods any other way.

Also, I enforce certain "house rules":

*Face Offs: Single stick only
--------------Direct back swipe only (exceptions: on PP, single stick any motion, any place on the ice; also, on even strength, if the CPU ices the puck; on PK, always a single stick back swipe)

*Semi-player lock: once controlling a player I stay with until puck possession causes otherwise; exception: puck is throw down ice, then I allow to switch to burst after it either direction; also, after a shot, I allow a switch to player in front of goalie for possible rebound

*No swipe dive unless the PC player is on a breakaway

*No defensive block position to block a pass in my offensive zone

*Otherwise, attempt various plays in my zone; i.e., not constant 1 timers

I like this. I'm currently working on ps3 14min sliders. Getting realistic totals for most things. My hits are a little high but that's down to my play style, so I'm working on using my stick more and tweaking the teammate checking slider.
Even Dmen are shooting from the point without any attribute edits. And they dont sag as much. Some nice grinding in the corners. Goalies looking legit with good save %s. Sloppy passing, lots of dumpins and cycling. Just now fine tuning pens to get a nice mix. Then looking at breakaway stats.
I also employ some house rules and if I discover any cheese I throw it out.

I've tweaked this some and testing it. Includes changing the strategies somewhat and the sliders a bit.

I'll post my latest up this weekend if I get time. Are you using attribute edits? Mine's based on ps3 original rosters (after the rookies were added). Only edits I've done is to the fighters and adjusted some size and weight for players that were wrong originally and also edited the rookies somewhat

Still need to post mine up, apologies. I've got a few games in the last couple of nights. Pens are looking good I just want a bigger sample size before I post.
The breakaways aren't crazy but I feel this is more down to my play style than any slider settings, so I'm ill going to keep an open mind on those.

I got as far as 15 mins. and decided to live with that. This includes putting the 5 on 5 lines on "stay back". Even with that, there's still too many breakaways in some games.

I'll post screen shots of my current sliders in a bit.

I changed my face-off house rules as well:

*1st 2 lines: side to side or back swipe only from center ice to my offensive zone; otherwise back swipe only on even strength anywhere else (i.e., lines 3 and 4 or other even strength situations -- which is rare).

*On PK: back swipe only everywhere on the ice

*On PP: any single stick style of swipe anywhere on the ice

Yeah with faceoffs I'm using back swipe only (RS) and if that is a bit too successful at any point I switch to buttons only to help keep the % at a realistic level.
