Following! Looking forward to seeing how you rebuild the Mavs (they're a tough one). Great layout, too.

    Happy to see you back.

(And thank you for the shout out, too, not necessary but completely appreciated.)

excited for the possibilities with this. What are your plans for the roster? Are you planning on moving anyone if the season starts getting away?

Probably not straight away. I do want to keep the transactions as realistic as possible. So in that sense, the roster will still be geared more towards a 'compete now' mentality since that's what I'd think Cuban and the Mavs would do. However, do expect some moves to be influenced by myself, as an advisor for the team.

Unfortunately due to technical difficulties from 2K, the premiere date has been postponed indefinitely.

Once Patch 1.05 and the opening rosters drop, I'll pick things back up shortly after.

The Dallas Mavericks will begin their 37th NBA season without their All-Star forward, Dirk Nowitzki, who has been sidelined indefinitely due to an Achilles soreness, per Mavs.com beat writer, Bobby Karalla.

“He’s not feeling super great at the moment”, coach Rick Carlisle told reporters after Saturday’s shootaround. Nowitzki is dealing with a sore Achilles as well as getting over an illness that zapped his energy during the preseason finale earlier in the week.

To add to further complications, the Mavs may also be without their starting point guard, Deron Williams, who is listed as doubtful, according to Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com.

The Mavericks host the Minnesota Timberwolves Monday (9:30 p.m. ET, 2K TV).

Timberwolves dominate Mavericks in season opener

October 31, 2016 | by Juan Carlos Blanco via RotoWire.com

The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Dallas Mavericks, 115-88, at AmericanAirlines Arena on Monday.

Both teams were short-handed, each missing their starting point guards, Ricky Rubio and Deron Williams, whereas Dallas was also missing their all-time leading scorer, Dirk Nowitzki, who had been ruled out indefinitely due to an Achilles injury.

It was a tightly contested first quarter with both teams trading buckets, however, the T'Wolves picked it up a notch during the second quarter with their stellar play on the defensive end, limiting the Mavericks to just 15 points. The biggest factor during the first half was Minnesota's sizable difference in the assist column, out-facilitating their opponent 18-4.

Despite getting into early foul trouble, sophomore, Karl-Anthony Towns led the way with a double-double, 17 points and 10 rebounds in just 20 minutes of play. Minnesota also punished the Mavericks on the fast-break, scoring 16 points of Dallas' 19 turnovers, and the game was pretty much done at the half.

Newcomers Harrison Barnes (24 points, 7 rebounds) and Seth Curry (18 points) were just a few bright-spots for the Mavs in what would rather be a forgetful opening night.

Dallas' next chance to redeem themselves will be on November 12 when they visit the Memphis Grizzlies and a familiar face in Chandler Parsons. Deron Williams is expected to be back by then whereas Dirk Nowitzki and Devin Harris remain questionable. As for Minnesota, they'll be getting an extended break until November 26 when they face the OKC Thunder.

                    Grizzlies outduel the Mavericks

                    November 12, 2016 | by NBA News

MEMPHIS — In a tightly contested battle, it was former Maverick, Chandler Parsons, who had the last laugh as his Grizzlies' side escaped with a 97-91 victory over Dallas.

The Mavericks, who were crushed by the Timberwolves at home, welcomed back two of their starters, Dirk Nowitzki and Deron Williams. It was some much needed relief as Nowitzki poured in a double-double, with 23 points and 11 rebounds, whilst Williams dished out 7 of the team's 21 total assists; something that was severely lacking for the Mavericks in their opening game.

But it was all just too much for the Mavs to handle as Marc Gasol bullied his way to a monster line with 18 points, 16 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks. He also contributed two vital putbacks down the stretch that sealed the game with the clock winding down. Zach Randolph, whom Grizzlies coach, David Fizdale, recently appointed as the newly sixth man after being the starter of the team for the past seven seasons, did not miss a beat, finishing with 17 points as well as making a huge three with 55 seconds left in the game that gave the Grizzlies a commanding 5 point lead.

"I feel like I can be a starter, of course, and carry a team like I did last year," Randolph said. "But I'm being positive and staying ready. If Coach wants me to play 10 minutes, I'll come in and play the hardest 10 minutes." It seems Randolph is really embracing the change as Memphis will continue looking for him to bring some scoring punch in the second-unit.

Dallas get their first victory of the season after a second half barrage

                        November 26, 2016 | by NBA News

The Lakers started out red hot in the first half with a commanding 8 point lead while shooting 56% from the field. Lakers center, Timofey Mozgov had his fingerprints all over the game, recording 15 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, 5 blocks, and a monstrous putback dunk on Andrew Bogut late in the fourth quarter, in what looked to have shifted the momentum for a second.

On the other spectrum, Dirk Nowitzki led the way with 22 points though it was a night to forget for Harrison Barnes, who came into this averaging 20.5 PPG, but struggled for much of the game, finishing with only 11 points (4-13 FG). Fortunately, it was Dallas' bench that picked up the slack, with Dwight Powell and J.J. Barea providing a huge spark in the second half that propelled the Mavericks back into the game. Powell had an impressive 17 points, 9 rebounds and 3 swats, while Barea dished out 8 assist and played down the stretch after an unfortunate injury sustained by Deron Williams, who landed awkwardly after a missed three point attempt.

Dallas will now fly to Tinseltown to face the L.A. Clippers. Deron Williams is expected to be available for the game despite the injury he suffered. "Yeah, my ankle feels really swollen right now but I think with a few days of rest, it'll be alright" Williams told reporters after the game.

DALLAS (AP) -- Dallas Mavericks point guard, Deron Williams, suffered a ruptured left Achilles after Saturday night's victory against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Williams left the game late in the fourth quarter and even told reporters that he felt fine afterwards. However, after an MRI further revealed complications in his left ankle and team doctors have already ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

"It's definitely a huge blow for us and what we want to accomplish this season", Rick Carlisle addressed the media today. "We just have to pick back up the pieces and go from there."

With the Mavericks scheduled to face the Clippers in a few weeks, Carlisle has yet to confirm Williams' replacement as the starting point guard.

                            Griffin, Clippers crush Mavericks

                            December 17, 2016 | by NBA News

Blake Griffin was in full flight on Saturday night as he and the Clippers cruised past the Dallas Mavericks, 115-98. Griffin led the way with 35 points, 16 rebounds and 4 steals. Despite only shooting 5 free throw attempts for the game, the Clippers handled the ball very impressively, with only 5 turnovers in total.

On the other hand, Dallas' disastrous season continues. After losing their starting point guard, Deron Williams for the season with a ruptured Achilles, veteran Devin Harris was inserted as his replacement. The Clippers picked the Mavs clean, scoring 20 points off the Mavs' 16 turnovers. Harrison Barnes (25 points) was Dallas' lone bright spot with the rest of the starters struggling mightily with their shots.

Dallas will now head back home (and the drawing board) as they kick-start the New Year against division rivals, the Houston Rockets, on January 7.

Rockets win in thrilling Texas showdown

                              January 7, 2017 | by NBA News

In a nail-biting finish, the Houston Rockets edged past the Dallas Mavericks, 106-105 at the American Airlines Center on Saturday night.

Dallas did an admirable job containing James Harden to just 20 points. But it was Patrick Beverly that stole the show as he scored 16 points, along with 8 assists an a pair of steals, to help the team to victory.

The Dallas starters fared much better than their previous game, with Dirk Nowitzki posting 24 points and Wesley Matthews contributing 15 points. Max-contract man, Harrison Barnes, continues his scoring streak, notching up 29 points. Barnes has now scored back-to-back 20+ points and is proving to be a reliable first-option despite that array of criticism in the offseason. Uncharacteristically, Barnes did shoot 5-11 from the charity stripe and one could only imagine what could've been had he hit a few more.

INDEPENDENCE, Dallas (AP) -- After an illustrious career spanning for almost two decades, Dallas Maverick forward, and future Hall of Famer, Dirk Nowitzki has decided to call it quits at the conclusion of the 2016-17 NBA season.

Nowitzki made the announcement late last night on his Twitter account.

Dallas' last game in the regular season will be played against the OKC Thunder on April 6, and with the Mavs currently 1-4 in the standings and Playoff aspirations drifting further and further, it could very well be the last dance for Nowitzki.
