      Re: The Association: Dallas Mavericks

All caught up -- it appears the new season is exactly what Mavs fans needed after last year's debacle. Having that 1st rounder turn into first overall was backbreaking, but the organization has really done really well bouncing back from it. I still think that trade is going to hurt a lot long-term, especially if Wall bolts in the summer of 2019, but the Valentine trade was a nice move -- Chicago sold super-low on him and he's gonna be a very important part for the Mavs moving forward, I feel.

7-2 is a good record, but it all comes down to the playoffs in the end -- got to excel in the postseason to really make it all worth it.
      Any comments are welcome.

Grizzlies win in Parson's return to Dallas

            March 1, 2018 | by NBA News

Despite starting the game shooting 1-8, Mike Conley did damage in the second half, hitting 6 triples for the game and leading Memphis to a 106-95 victory over Dallas.

Marc Gasol was also unstoppable, racking up 20 points and 16 rebounds. Chandler Parsons was unusually quiet in his homecoming, however, played terrific defense against Harrison Barnes down the stretch, finishing with 10 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals.

For Dallas, Justin Anderson was cookin', scoring a season high 24 points, 9 rebounds, and knocking down 4 three pointers.

However, the biggest downfall was the differential in turnovers. Memphis only had 5 the entire game!

The defeat now gives Dallas their first consecutive losses this season.

Mavericks get back to winning ways, overcomes Phoenix Suns

              March 15, 2018 | by NBA News

After trailing for much of the game, Dallas finally get their first win after the All-Star break, with a 108-101 victory over Phoenix, limiting the Suns to just 16 points in the fourth quarter.

Harrison Barnes stuffed the stat sheet with 31 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals while John Wall supplemented with 22 points and 11 assists. Thomas Robinson was the major spark off the bench, contributing 10 points, 11 rebounds, and a season-high, 5 blocks.

Devin Booker led the scoring for the Suns with 23 points while Marqueses Chriss wowed fans with his athleticism and highlight reel dunks. He finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Clippers outlast Mavericks in double OT, Jordan hauls in 31 rebounds

                March 22, 2018 | by NBA News

It was an incredible performance by DeAndre Jordan, who finished with 25 points and 31 rebounds to help the Clippers win, 134-122. Chris Paul led the team in scoring with 36 points but needed 35 attempts to do so.

As for Dallas, it was an unforgettable night for Harrison Barnes, who dropped a career-high, 53 points. With John Wall fouling out of the game, Barnes stepped up in a big way, knocking down 3 clutch free throws, after being fouled with 0.5 seconds left on the clock, and sending the game into overtime. However, his performance was undone as he eventually cooled off during the 2OT, and the Clippers ran away with the win.

After the game, Mavericks coach, Rick Carlisle, told reports that the team needed to do a better job handling the ball. "Those 22 turnovers were unacceptable tonight. I think if we can protect the ball more and not commit so many unforced mistakes then we'd be in a much better position next time."

                  Jazz crush Mavericks at home

                  March 29, 2018 | by NBA News

It was a slaughterfest as Utah dominated the game right from tip-off, winning 116-90.

The Jazz had 7 players scoring in double-digits with Dante Exum leading with 20 points off the bench. Rudy Gobert was a defensive monster, racking up 17 rebounds along with 16 points while rookie, Markelle Fultz, got the best of John Wall, accumulating 10 assists and 5 steals.

John Wall continued to struggle as of late, shooting 3-13 from the field while Harrison Barnes was, once again, on his own and carrying the team in scoring with 29 points.

With the Playoffs looming, it seems Dallas' hot start has all but evaporated, going 1-3 since the All-Star break. They'll have one more game left against the OKC Thunder on April 12 before the regular season concludes.

Yeah it's something I've noticed in my current season. I think they've bumped down the amount of injuries in-game with the latest patch.

Before, there was an injury happening once every few games. So far, no injuries in-game, just sim.

I'm playing HoF sliders so I might adjust the sliders for injuries to make it more realistic - or maybe I've just been very lucky staying healthy

Mavericks conclude regular season with victory over Thunder

                        April 12, 2018 | by NBA News

John Wall finally broke out of his slump, making 11-16 shots to finish with 34 points and 11 assists. Harrison Barnes continued his scoring streak with 27 points and is now averaging 31.4 PPG after the All-Star break, proving the doubters wrong after signing to a max contract last season.

For Oklahoma City, it was a rough night for Russell Westbrook as he only shot 9-29 from the field (1-8 from downtown). Enes Kanter made the most of his opportunity after Sabonis got into foul trouble early. He finished with a huge double-double, 19 points and 17 rebounds.

With the regular season now finished, the Mavericks locked up the 4th seed and will now face division rivals, Memphis Grizzlies, in a first-round match-up. Both John Wall and Andrew Bogut dealt with minor injuries during the game but are expected to be fit in time for the showdown.

Being given the keys to the offense in your first year is no easy task, especially on a proven-veteran Utah squad. But Fultz fared extremely well and was one of the few bright spots in what has been another disappointing season for the Jazz as they missed the Playoffs.

Fultz was voted as the Western Conference Rookie of the Month during January and February.

The team is looking solid. How do you think the first round is going to go? Memphis should give you a tough time on the boards I'd think.

Oh no doubt. They beat us at home last time, 106-95. They took care of the ball really well (5 turnovers) and Marc Gasol absolutely bullied us down low (20 points, 16 rebounds).

                              Updates to come soon!
