With Barnes back, Dallas gets back on track, defeating Memphis 107-83

          February 28, 2019 | by NBA News

It was a collective team effort as 6 different Mavericks players scored in double digits. Led by the return of Harrison Barnes, who scored 20 points, Dallas showed a full array of defensive plays that limited the Grizzlies to just 56 points in the final three quarters of play.

After the game, a more light-hearted DeMarcus Cousins praised the return of Barnes. "Man, y'all don't know. He is the heart on soul of the team. He makes me and John's life a helluva lot easier and our teams defense improves by 1000% just by having him on the court."

Dallas makes light work of New Orleans

            March 14, 2019 | by NBA News

The Mavericks continue to get back on their winning ways as they defeat the Pelicans 108-98.

Wall, whom had been struggling with turnovers, committed just 2 tonight as he racked up a season-high 21 assists. Harrison Barnes led the team in scoring with 28 points while DeMarcus Cousins chipped in 23 points.

For Anthony Davis, who came into this as the leading scoring in the league, struggled for just 19 points on 8-20 shooting. Much credit was due to the terrific defense played by Cousins, Hammons and even Justin Anderson who made it a tough night for Davis overall.

Mavericks survive thriller, make it three straight

              March 21, 2019 | by NBA News

Dallas led as much as 15 points during the first half but all that was erased when Denver made a roaring comeback in the third quarter, even taking the lead at one point.

Both teams traded buckets back and forth in the final quarter with the Mavericks coming on top and winning 105-103. Emmanual Mudiay missed, on what would have been, the game winning three as he finished with 10 points and 7 assists. The Nuggets were led by Gallinari and Jokic who recorded 24 and 21 points respectively.

As for Dallas, it seems they've hit their stride at the right time and are now averaging over 35% from downtown in their last two games. Barnes was the leading scorer with 30 points and a season-high 4 blocks while Cousins and Wall both recorded double-doubles.

With tonight's win, the Mavericks are now 6-5 and sitting at 6th place of the Western Conference.

Nice to see you bounce back after the slow start. Out of curiosity, did you change anything with your injuries to start the season or did you just have a run of bad luck?

If you adjusted something please let me know because I never seem to get in-game injuries anymore and as weird as it may sound, I'd love to get one every now and then.

I have not. I'm playing with HoF sliders with no adjustments. I even re-signed my trainer if that makes any difference lol.

It's weird because for the first two seasons, I didn't encounter any 'in-game' injuries at all. And then this season, my team was injury plagued and even my three-point shooting dropped significantly which led me to believe that some sliders may have been tweaked. But for the past few games, it seems things went back to before (i.e., no more injuries, three-point shooting above 35%).

Mavericks outlast Jazz behind Cousin's 33 points

                    March 28, 2019 | by NBA News

The Boogie was in full effect tonight as Dallas defeated Utah, 115-108. Led by the man himself, Cousins erupted for 18 points in the 4th quarter, finishing the game with 33 points and 16 rebounds. Denzel Valentine also continued to find his rhythm as he came off the bench for 17 points.

As for the Jazz, Gordon Hayward was their leading scorer with 21 points while Markelle Fultz poured in 19 points along with 13 assists.

Up next for Dallas, Boogie will make his much anticipated return to Sacramento where he will face his former team. Be sure to catch all the action on April 11!

Looks like the Mavs are getting hot at exactly the right time -- positive momentum as they climb the standings and make their case for the playoffs is a big thing, the rest of the league better watch out.

Cousins triple doubles in return to Sacramento

                          April 11, 2019 | by NBA News

There was no love lost in Boogie's return as he served up his best performance of the season. With John Wall out due to a sprained ankle, it was Cousins that took over the majority of the ball handling as he went on his way to rack up 12 assists, 15 rebounds and 32 points. Carlisle opted to use Cousins more in the high-post, reminiscence of his Sacramento days.

As for the Kings, Thaddeus Young was the leading scorer with 31 points however the Mavericks were daring him to shoot from outside all night, which resulted in just 2/10 from downtown.

With one more game left in the season, Dallas has bounced back in a big way, remaining undefeated since the All-Star break. With a win against Phoenix, Dallas could lock up the 4th seed in a potential first-round matchup against the Spurs.

The Mavericks have officially locked up the number four seed after tonight's win over Phoenix, led by John Wall who returned after a one-game absence.

Wall was hot from downtown, knocking down a season-high 5 three-pointers and finishing with 32 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. A pleasant surprise was also Denzel Valentine who came off the bench and ignited for a career-best 29 points. His development has been well-documented over the course of the season with Rick Carlisle comparing him to Manu Ginobili. "The energy he brings off the bench is exactly what we need. As each game goes by, he is becoming more confident in creating his shot, finding the open man, and becoming that facilitator that he was back in Michigan State," Carlisle speaking of Valentine.

With the regular season concluding, the Mavericks finished with a 9-5 record and will now face the San Antonio Spurs in the first-round of the Playoffs. Fortunately for Dallas, they have home court but will it be enough to contain Kawhi Leonard and the Spurs?

Although his numbers are slightly down across the board compared to last season's incredible performance, James will no doubt once again lead the team into the Playoffs, chasing their third title in franchise history.

                                First-Round Recap

                                (4) Dallas Mavericks vs. (5) San Antonio Spurs

In a controversial finish to the game, the San Antonio Spurs are victorious after defeating the Dallas Mavericks 98-97.

Down by as much as 18 at one point, the Spurs made a ferocious comeback in the second half, limiting Dallas to just 32% from the field. Despite a slow first half start by scoring champion, Kawhi Leonard, he eventually got in his groove late in the third quarter, finishing with 31 points. Dejounte Murray also chipped in 10 points and 11 assists.

With 45 seconds left in a tied ball game, DeMarcus Cousins dished the ball to an open Tim Hardaway Jr., who nailed a huge three-pointer and giving the Mavericks a 3 point lead. On the other hand, John Wall fouled out of the game on the next play after hitting Tony Parker on the arm and allowing him to tie it all up again with 3 free throws.

Fast forward a couple of plays later - down by just 1 point and 7 seconds left, Harrison Barnes drove to the basket in what looked to be a lot of contact, however no call was made as Barnes missed the game winner thus sending Dallas fishing.

After the game, a hot tempered and furious Mark Cuban blasted the ref's no-call and criticizing their lack of judgement. He was later fined $50,000 by the league.

The Rockets were merely a testing ground for the Warriors as they were completely butchered, losing by 41 points.

Steph Curry and Kevin Durant both led the charge with 37 points each while Draymond Green was one assist shy of a triple double with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 9 assists.

This one went right down to the wire with Portland prevailing in the end, backed by Damian Lillard who had 20 points.

Karl-Anthony Towns had a huge game for the Wolves, finishing with 32 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks but it wasn't enough as Minnesota will learn from this experience and look to come back stronger next year.

It seems to be a recurring theme with these two teams meeting in the first-round. Unfortunately for the Celtics, the Raptors were just too good, winning 98-88.

Kyle Lowry was the high-man, scoring 28 points, along with 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Jonas Valanciunas also chipped in with 17 points and 15 rebounds.
