Tough loss to the Spurs, you guys seemed to get robbed. Not sure how much more you can improve the team, but with the talent you have, you should be very competitive next season. Maybe time for a coaching change, as much as I hate to say that.

Damn what a disappointing end to the season after you guys put together a great second half of the season. But hopefully your core stays in tact and you can make a run next year.Comment

Magic win lottery, gets #1 pick
July 5, 2019 | by NBA News
Despite a miserable season, the Orlando Magic have some good fortune coming their way and will have the first choice in this years' 2019 NBA Draft. This will mark the franchise's fourth #1 overall pick in history.
With the best odds in the lottery, Orlando fans breathed a sigh of relief as they were able to hold on to the top spot. The Hornets, once again, made the biggest jump, going from 5th projected to landing the 2nd pick while the Knicks unfortunately slip to 3rd despite having tied the worst record last season.
This years' draft class is expected to deep with Duke sharpshooter, Steve Lever, as the consensus #1 pick overall. Other prospects possibly going early include Lawrence Howard (Ohio State) and the mystery big man, Axel Romero, from Argentina.

Coaching Changes: Wade returns to Miami
July 12, 2019 | by NBA News
In stunning revelation, Dwyane Wade has been named as the next head coach of the Miami Heat.
It was no secret that Wade insisted on his intentions to return to South Beach but many speculated as either an assistant coach or advisory role. But after the Bucks acquired Tom Thibodeau, whom was the Heat's head coach at the time, Miami made no time and instantly fast-tracked Wade's coaching career.
Despite how Wade left Miami as a player to join the Chicago Bulls, it appears the tension between him and Pat Riley have been completely extinguished as the two were spotted quite frequently together during the off-season in various events.
In other coaching news, it has also been a busy day with a series of coaching transactions.
Here is the full breakdown:
- Timberwolves re-sign David Blatt
- 76ers re-sign Mike Budenholzer

2019 NBA Draft Recap: Magic select Steve Lever with #1 overall pick
July 17, 2019 | by NBA News

The Orlando Magic have selected Duke sharshooter, Steve Lever.
Lever was voted the Offensive Player of the Year in last season's college basketball where he averaged 23.2 PPG, 3.6 RPG and 4.4 APG.
Lever will join a Derrick Rose-led team consisting of other young talents such as Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon, Nikola Vucevic and Jonathan Isaac. It is largely speculated that Lever will pair with Rose in the back-court with Fournier sliding over to the three. Magic head coach, David Joerger addressed the media earlier whom seemed very excited to work with the young prospect. "Steve is going to help space the floor for us tremendously which will allow Derrick to attack the paint more freely."
Maryland shooting guard, DeMar Brooks was surprisingly selected second by the Charlotte Hornets however was immediately traded to the Knicks for their third pick and Joakim Noah. Brooks recently impressed the Knicks during a workout, so much so that they traded backup center Joakim Noah in order to move up in the draft.
During the draft, there were a flurry of trades with the main one involving Derrick Favors - the Boston Celtics acquired Derrick Favors from the Jazz in exchange for the 7th overall pick. With Axel Romero falling in the draft, it would appear the Jazz simply couldn't pass on the chance and shipped off Favors, who has seen his numbers decline as a result of Rudy Gobert's development. Favors will undoubtedly solidify Boston's starting five as they'll be hoping to make a deep push in next season's Playoffs.
Below is the full breakdown of deals that went down during the draft along with the draft selections from each team.
Knicks trade: 3rd overall pick, Joakim Noah
Hornets trade: Draft rights to DeMar Brooks, 2021 second-round pick
Celtics trade: 7th overall pick
Jazz trade: Derrick Favors, 36th overall pick
Bucks trade: 12th overall pick, Elfrid Payton
Pistons trade: Tobias Harris, 2021 first-round pick (Top 3 protected)
Bulls trade: 17th overall pick, Patrick Patterson
Trail Blazers trade: Evan Turner, 2021 first-round pick (Top 3 protected)
Wizards trade: 21st overall pick
Hornets trade: Matthew Dellavedova, J.J. Hickson

Bobby Karalla-USA TODAY Sports
Despite not playing a single game since the 2015-16 NBA season, Chris Bosh has finally been medically cleared to play again.
Bosh, a Dallas native, chose the Mavericks as he wanted to return to his roots and give back to the community that raised him to be the man he is today. "Man, I'm just so thankful to be back and to play the game that I love so much. I'm so blessed" Bosh addressed the media earlier today.
Though at the age of 35, Bosh admittedly said that he is no longer the player he was 3 years ago. "After being out of action for so long, I'm just working my conditioning back up again. I definitely think I can contribute to this team, maybe not right away, but given my past championship experience and I'll be ready when coach gives me that call."
Furthermore, the Mavericks also brought back a familiar face and crowd favorite, Wesley Matthews, who was traded a few years' back as part of the John Wall acquisition.
With new players coming in, unfortunately Dallas had to let go of its' own free agents in order to accommodate for room. As a result, the Mavericks decided to part ways with Deron Williams, Thomas Robinson, and Darrell Arthur.
In other free agency news, the biggest movement was Kemba Walker, returning home and signing with the New York Knicks on a 4-year deal.

2019-20 Season Preview
After a slow start to the 2018-19 season, marred by injuries to DeMarcus Cousins and Harrison Barnes, the Mavericks found their footing and went undefeated after the All-Star break. With such momentum going for them, it was somewhat disappointing to see them get knocked out of the first-round to rivals, San Antonio Spurs.
Now in Year 2 of the so-called 'Big 3' era, Dallas will pick themselves back up and, once again, attempt for a deep postseason run led by John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, and Harrison Barnes.
During the offseason, Barnes elected to opt in to his final year of contract which pretty much limited Dallas' cap flexibility - in fact, they literally couldn't sign anyone over the MLE. As a result, they added seasoned veterans chasing that championship ring, yet could still provide ample minutes.
Some key additions to bolster the Mavericks bench included Chris Bosh, who returned to the league after suffering blood clots for the past few years, Wesley Matthews, Mario Chalmers, and Al Jefferson. Furthermore, Dallas was able to bring back Tim Hardaway Jr. and Tony Allen, but unfortunately, decided to part ways with Deron Williams and Thomas Robinson. With no true backup point guard, it'll be interesting to see how Rick Carlisle tinkers with the rotation - will he play Wall heavy minutes or will he continue to experiment Denzel Valentine at the point?
Overall, with a season under their belts and the early jitters gone, the Mavericks look prime to redeem themselves. Will the added additions of veterans help steer the rest on the right track or will it all come crumbling down again when it matters?
Team Roster

#1 Justin Anderson | SF
University of VirginiaHeight: 6'6" DOB: Nov 19, 1993 (25 years old) Weight: 228 lbs Drafted: 2015 (1st Rnd, 21st by DAL) Nationality: American Experience: 4 year STATS GP MPG FG% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 2018-19 Season 14 26.9 35.7 93.3 4.6 1.6 0.4 0.9 6.1 Career 97 17.1 39.4 83.0 2.9 0.8 0.4 0.5 4.7 2019-20 Overview Andersen made strides last year, particularly on the defensive end, averaging career highs in rebounds (4.6 per game) and blocks (0.9 per game). At times, Rick Carlisle even used Andersen over Hardaway Jr. in the 4th quarter purely for his defensive tenacities.

#40 Harrison Barnes | SF/PF
University of North Carolina at Chapel HillHeight: 6'9" DOB: May 30, 1992 (27 years old) Weight: 225 lbs Drafted: 2012 (1st Rnd, 7th by GSW) Nationality: American Experience: 7 years STATS GP MPG FG% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 2018-19 Season 10 32.6 42.5 89.3 5.1 1.8 1.3 1.0 23.3 Career 345 28.8 44.8 76.6 4.7 1.5 0.8 0.3 11.5 2019-20 Overview Plagued by injuries early on last year, Barnes was on the verge of being selected to his first All-Star appearance. Nonetheless, he was awarded the Most Improved Player of the Year for his efforts, as well as proving his value to the team. In fact, when Barnes was out, the Mavericks had a losing record. Safe to say, how far the Mavs go this season will likely correspond to Barnes one way or another.

#20 A.J. Hammons | C
Purdue UniversityHeight: 7'0" DOB: Aug 27, 1992 (27 years old) Weight: 260 lbs Drafted: 2016 (2nd Rnd, 46th by DAL) Nationality: American Experience: 3 year STATS GP MPG FG% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 2018-19 Season 14 17.4 66.7 84.8 6.9 0.6 0.6 1.4 6.0 Career 36 17.8 72.3 73.8 7.0 0.7 0.9 1.5 6.9 2019-20 Overview With the arrival of DeMarcus Cousins, it was expected for Hammons to see a reduced role last season. Despite that, Hammons still signed an extension with the team and he'll be expected to see much of the same as the backup for Boogie.

#11 John Wall | PG
University of KentuckyHeight: 6'4" DOB: Sep 6, 1990 (29 years old) Weight: 210 lbs Drafted: 2010 (1st Rnd, 1st by WAS) Nationality: American Experience: 9 years STATS GP MPG FG% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 2018-19 Season 13 29.9 47.0 76.8 3.9 11.2 1.5 0.6 19.9 Career 463 35.6 43.4 78.8 4.4 9.1 1.7 0.6 18.3 2019-20 Overview Turnovers and foul troubles were a huge problem for Wall last season, both committing career highs with 5.5 TOPG and 3.2 FPG. However, those numbers seemed to have dipped towards the end of last season and the Mavericks will surely be hoping that trend carries over this year.

#7 Serge Ibaka | PF
CB L'Hospitalet (Spain)Height: 6'10" DOB: Sep 18, 1989 (30 years old) Weight: 235 lbs Drafted: 2008 (1st Rnd, 24th by SEA) Nationality: Congolese/Spanish Experience: 10 years STATS GP MPG FG% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 2018-19 Season 14 29.0 51.0 74.1 7.0 1.4 0.6 1.3 10.2 Career 566 28.9 51.7 75.2 7.4 0.6 0.4 2.4 11.6 2019-20 Overview With the arrival of Cousins and the continued growth of Barnes, it was inevitable that someone on the team would lose touches. Unfortunately for Ibaka, he was the odd man out as his numbers dipped to just 10.2 PPG. On the plus side, he did shoot a career best 42.5% from three-point and his rim protecting presence should continue to remain as his focal point for the team.

#10 Tim Hardaway Jr. | SG
University of MichiganHeight: 6'6" DOB: Mar 16, 1992 (27 years old) Weight: 205 lbs Drafted: 2013 (1st Rnd, 24th by NYK) Nationality: American Experience: 6 years STATS GP MPG FG% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 2018-19 Season 14 26.0 44.8 91.7 2.0 1.5 0.6 0.2 8.6 Career 244 22.6 41.7 82.4 1.9 1.3 0.4 0.1 9.9 2019-20 Overview Despite improving his field goal percentages from the year before, Hardaway Jr. was widely inconsistent, missing many open threes on various occasions. It won't get any easier for him this season with the emergence of Denzel Valentine and the singing of Wesley Matthews breathing down his neck, it's Hardaway Jr. job to lose as the starting shooting guard.

#45 Denzel Valentine | SG/PG
Michigan State UniversityHeight: 6'6" DOB: Nov 16, 1993 (25 years old) Weight: 210 lbs Drafted: 2016 (1st Rnd, 14th by CHI) Nationality: American Experience: 3 years STATS GP MPG FG% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 2018-19 Season 14 23.5 36.2 96.6 2.6 1.6 0.8 0.4 10.7 Career 25 20.9 38.3 94.6 2.2 1.3 0.6 0.3 9.4 2019-20 Overview Last season saw Valentine develop his game as a player who could create his own shot. Now with Deron Williams gone, Rick Carlisle has hinted at playing Valentine more at the point position this year.

#12 DeMarcus Cousins | C
University of KentuckyHeight: 6'11" DOB: Aug 13, 1990 (29 years old) Weight: 270 lbs Drafted: 2010 (1st Rnd, 5th by SAC) Nationality: American Experience: 9 years STATS GP MPG FG% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 2018-19 Season 11 31.8 62.0 86.8 13.4 2.5 1.8 1.7 25.0 Career 454 31.6 46.3 73.1 10.9 2.8 1.4 1.2 20.3 2019-20 Overview Mavericks fans were able to breathe a sigh of relief as Boogie was able to keep his cool all season long, and even average career highs in rebounds, steals and field goal/free throw percentages. Now in his second year after adjusting with his new team, Cousins will hold nothing back after getting his first taste of the postseason.

#9 Tony Allen | SG
Oklahoma State UniversityHeight: 6'4" DOB: Jan 11, 1982 (37 years old) Weight: 213 lbs Drafted: 2004 (1st Rnd, 25th by BOS) Nationality: American Experience: 15 years STATS GP MPG FG% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 2018-19 Season 9 10.0 16.7 50.0 1.4 0.6 0.2 0.0 0.4 Career 765 21.8 47.5 71.6 3.4 1.3 1.4 0.4 7.9 2019-20 Overview It was evident last year that Allen has lost a step or two. Nonetheless, he will continue to serve as the backup wing capable of defending the very best despite his offensive game virtually non-existent now.

#4 Chris Bosh | PF/C
Georgia Institute of TechnologyHeight: 6'11" DOB: Mar 24, 1984 (35 years old) Weight: 235 lbs Drafted: 2003 (1st Rnd, 4th by TOR) Nationality: American Experience: 16 years STATS GP MPG FG% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 2018-19 Season Career 893 35.8 49.4 79.9 8.5 2.0 0.8 1.0 19.2 2019-20 Overview Three years away from the game, it's anyone's guess on how Bosh will perform on his return. Still, it's expected that he'll see minimal game time early on as he gets back on his feet again. His floor spacing could play in parts to provide more room for Cousins to operate down low.

#23 Wesley Matthews | SG/SF
Marquette UniversityHeight: 6'5" DOB: Oct 14, 1986 (33 years old) Weight: 220 lbs Drafted: 2009 (Undrafted) Nationality: American Experience: 10 years STATS GP MPG FG% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 2018-19 Season 14 16.6 40.0 81.0 1.5 1.3 0.5 0.3 8.1 Career 562 31.7 43.4 83.0 3.0 2.0 1.1 0.2 13.8 2019-20 Overview Matthews returns back to Dallas after his stint in Minnesota. A crowd favorite and definitely one of 'Cuban's boy', Matthews will likely serve as the backup shooting guard but it wouldn't be all that surprising to see him overtake Tim Hardaway Jr. at some point in the season, particularly if the latter shows any signs of inconsistency.

#43 Al Jefferson | C
Prentiss High School (Mississippi)Height: 6'10" DOB: Jan 4, 1985 (33 years old) Weight: 289 lbs Drafted: 2004 (1st Rnd, 15th by BOS) Nationality: American Experience: 15 years STATS GP MPG FG% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 2018-19 Season 6 15.3 53.3 33.3 4.0 0.8 0.0 0.2 5.7 Career 833 30.3 49.8 70.6 8.8 1.5 0.7 1.3 16.4 2019-20 Overview No longer the dominant post threat he once was, Big Al will likely serve as the third-string center for the Mavericks.

#6 Mario Chalmers | PG
University of KansasHeight: 6'2" DOB: May 19, 1986 (33 years old) Weight: 190 lbs Drafted: 2008 (2nd Rnd, 34th by MIN) Nationality: American Experience: 10 years STATS GP MPG FG% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 2018-19 Season 3 2.0 50.0 100.0 0.0 0.3 0.0 0.3 2.0 Career 597 27.1 42.0 78.7 2.4 3.8 1.5 0.2 8.9 2019-20 Overview Journeyman Mario Chalmers will likely serve as the backup point guard, though it'll be interesting to see if he can crack the rotation as the Mavs technically don't have a point guard outside of John Wall.

Lillard explodes for 42 as Trail Blazers down Mavericks 115-110
November 4, 2019 | by NBA News
Despite missing C.J. McCollum due to an injury, rookie Malcolm Gibbs filled in an admirable job, scoring 16 points on his NBA debut. But it was Damian Lillard that carried Portland to the win as Dallas simply had no answers for him. Lillard finished the game with 42 points, 6 assists and 4 steals.
For the Mavericks, DeMarcus Cousins was the lone consistent threat, shooting 10/13 from the field, finishing with 29 points however foul troubles limited him during the second half. As for John Wall and Harrison Barnes, they could not buy a bucket tonight, combining on just 8/30 shooting.
