Re: The League: Reign of The NBA

In a shocking twist, the New York Knicks have decided to part ways with President of Basketball Operations Phil Jackson after 3 seasons. Jackson and owner James Dolan had mutual interest in ending their partnership after another abysmal season from the Knicks, which also saw the Knicks trade their star Carmelo Anthony to the L.A. Clippers. Jackso, of course, alienated Anthony and tried to assassinate his character through the media for months before trying to trade him in an obvious ploy to get Anthony to waive his no trade clause.
Sources say that Dolan was highly upset that not only did Jackson trade Anthony, who he loves, but also took what many considered an awful return for him. Add in Jackson's less than stellar track record of moves (Noah's $72M deal, trading Tim Hardaway, J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert, Tyson Chandler, etc. for less than they were worth, Melo's NTC) and it's obvious the Knicks gambled a bit too much on Phil's name recognition as opposed to his front office acumen. Since Jackson and the Knicks began tr partnership, the Knicks have gone a combined 80-166 (with zero playoff appearances) since the start of the 2014-15 season.
It is currently unclear who the Knicks will target for their front office, but sources say the Knicks are considering promoting GM Steve Mills to Jackson's former post while they look for a new general manager.
