Fun games DTX, I will be back on a little later.
I agree, this was also the case with BF 1943. Its not as bad as that though.

I shouldn't have to shoot someone 5 times with a sniper rifle to put them down.

BC2 to start off in WWII

We just can't get away from World War II in our war games, can we? According to an ESRB's description, the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is going to begin in World War II and then progress forward in to the modern day and age.

If you'd like it straight from the judgmental horse's mouth here it is: "In single-player mode, players conduct missions on an unnamed Japanese island during World War II and then move into the modern day through jungles, deserts, and snowy terrain."

The Battlefield series has been all over the place in time spectrum, so this isn't that surprising. However, it could be EA DICE testing the waters of the WWII setting once again. Maybe it's actually tying in Battlefield: 1942 to the storyline. That would fit with the island theme. If I had to put money on something, I would wager that the early WWII level(s) is actually just the tutorial stage, and won't actually have that much to do with the plot of the game, but we shall see.

That's actually pretty cool. Very original to progress like that.

Are you sure you are accounting for bullet drop?

In MW2 it uses "hitscan" which means the bullet goes exactly where you are aiming in BF BC2 the bullet travels and drops so you need to lead your targets.

I wonder that as well. Sniper seems to be pretty accurate to me, assuming you're not in a lag-tastic room. Anything around the head has been a headshot outright, or I get the "critical hit" points.

I noticed that too. which is odd that mw2 has that since cod4 you had to lead them. I wonder why they changed...they never had bullet drop though at any time. I don't remember bfbc1 having it either.

Yep, I am hitting them multiple times. They may not all be head shots, but they are getting hit.

which rifle?

the default has a 1 shot headshot kill (2 to the body) the 2nd one (semi-auto) imparts a lot less damage per hit
