I was looking forward to a squad-based Halo game.

Re: Halo: Reach

From G4 Interview

Quote:
Where Reach will be a full three-year cycle, it's got all-new tech, akin to the change from Halo 2 to Halo 3, not like ODST, which is just built on top of the Halo 3 foundation.
Quote:
Reach is going to be a tough project for us to wrap just because the scope is really big -- it's up there. It'll probably be our biggest game ever just in terms of the amount of people working on it and the expectations for it. I mean, it's a big deal for us.

Also, about the squad-based stuff, it definitely sounds like you will always have other Spartans with you, but they will have their own AI instead of you ordering them around.

The sounds good, and will make for some interesting gameplay. Lets just hope your AI teammates don't suck (The Arbiter in Halo 3).

Possible off-screen images and info has been leaked.

BR

it is a one shot battle rifle with 12 rounds, pretty powerful and effective long range.

Perks

This is what the HUD looks like. In the bottom left, you can see your squadmates health and names.

Right above the radar shows what perks you are carrying. When I played there were 3 perks-sprinting, cloaking, and halogram.

The sprinting makes you run when you hold LB,

cloaking makes you invisible (when you cloak your radar jams and you can't really hear anything around you).

The hologram creates a hologram of yourself, so enemies will shoot at both.

Re: Halo: Reach

Interesting....if these are real then we know its going to be a squad based shooter and with perks and whatever else, its going to be different than Halo 3 in terms of multiplayer gameplay.

The last screen, I assume is the spartan laser, looks awesome. The BR looks pretty cool and I think a 12 round single shot would work well.

What is that weapon in the second to last screen? Looks like a needler combined with a carbine.

Also if you look at the HUD, it appears to be a shield and health system like Halo 1 and ODST.

VGAs to host the world premiere of HALO: Reach

Quote:
The 2009 Video Game Awards will host the exclusive world premiere of HALO: Reach on Spike TV December 12.

This is according to a tweet posted by Geoff Keighley.

VGA nominees are expected to be announced today, as well, and the awards show will also be home to world premiere titles and announcements. You won’t want to miss it.

The opening is what will be shown.

Bungie.net

"This year VGA viewers will get a sneak peek at Halo: Reach with the debut of an exclusive, world premiere video from the opening of the game."

Sound good? Make sure you mark your calendars and strap yourself in. Halo: Reach premieres LIVE on Saturday, December 12 At 8:00 PM ET.

Re: Halo: Reach

Some comments from Bungie's Brian Jarrad

Quote:
Reach offers a lot of creative opportunities and a fresh approach to a universe we are all still very fond of. We hope you'll share our excitement as you start to learn and see more.
Quote:
Did you know that today the majority of people who work at Bungie have only shipped one, or zero, Halo games? (We had approx. 60 full time employees at the end of Halo 2, today we're upwards of 130). While some people have been working on Halo for a decade (many of whom make up the core of the Reach team) many more were inspired to come work for Bungie because of Halo and their desire to participate in the Universe.
Quote:
Regarding spoilers, I wouldn't worry too much. If you don't want to know what the game looks like, sounds like, what the primary characters look like or a confirmation that the Covenant are going to cause serious issues on the planet, you may want to avoid it. We'll be talking a lot more about multiplayer soon as we creep towards the Beta. For the most part, I'd expect the PR to follow the same mold as Halo 3 - initial glimpse of the bigger picture and fictional context and characters, then lots of focus on Multiplayer, then a slice of campaign, then it's on sale. We are always conscious of holding back spoilers (though in the case of leaks, we can't control it and it breaks our hearts and angers us as much as you).
Quote:
The opening cinematic footage being debuted at the VGAs is the opening salvo in what will amount to slowly building PR and Marketing assault leading up to release next year. Expectations are off the charts, it's a big game. It should be a wild ride between now and then.
