Re: H1Z1 (Sony Online Entertainment)

Dev stream is live

http://www.twitch.tv/h1z1

++Game Designer Jimmy Whisenhunt said that an early release version (Alpha?) will be available in roughly 4 weeks. $19.99

Stream notes
+Zombies have some ragdoll effects when they're hit by a vehicle.
+Not going to be a twitch style shooter.
+Crafting script has things like bandage, shed. Object snapping exists in building mode
+Night time is pretty dark without a torch
+Game designer gave the impression that vehicles will be a rare thing to craft.
+Wild life exists, zombies will attack them as well
+No server resets. Hosted by the H1Z1 so no rentals
+Able to set fire to things; fire can jump
+Planetside 2 engine confirmed. Able to run H1Z1 better than Planetside 2
+Controller settings aren't currently in, something they can plan for in the future
+Dynamic weather, things will get wet in areas wheres its raining while other areas of the map are dry.
+Destructible objects
+Horde of zombies
+Same ballistics as Planetside 2 but tweaked. There is bullet drop.
+Survival sim first but keeping it fun- they dont want realism to take away from fun. They dont consider it an FPS like they originally talked about

Holy jeepers, 4 weeks! Will $20 early access get you the full game eventually?

It's free to play.

Knowing SOE it'll get you the early access, and 2-3 cosmetic things.

I also heard it was free to play. Although I'm interested in this game, I can't but wonder whatever became of Planetside 2. Doesn't sound like it's coming. This was a game that won 2 or 3 years ago game of the year by many outlets.

PlanetSide 2 has been out for almost 2 years. It's F2P and on Steam as well.

Oh, I know. This was also suppose to have been a launch game offered for the PS4. It's been reported delayed and then ```into the wind ```

I figured you were referencing PS4 and not PC Picci.

1 month away, not too far. I'll definitely give it a go.

Take games like Outlast or Alien Isolation, those games show how to do atmosphere which creates the mood a zombie title should have. Then add in the survival aspect of something like Don't Starve, extremely rough conditions that change constantly and force you to be always on your toes. The crafting and item system as robust as say Skyrim or one of those large open world games, plus realism of gun or weapon play of a title like ARMA 3. Finally remove the MMO aspect and make it a 2-16 Coop multiplayer experience. Don't add in human bandits, instead replace those with AI bandits.

I want this type of game but DayZ is so buggy its not worth it.
Have you tried State of Decay? It checks off some (but not all) of the features you'd want.
