You craft your arrows and ammo, so quite a bit of crafting but I never found it problematic as resources are super abundant and crafting can be done on the fly.

Yeah I just didn't think it was very complicated compared some other in-depth games like The Witcher 3 that has a steep learning curve.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn

Don't you have to gather resources for upgrades, too?

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn

I may just be remembering it wrong or selling the crafting system short ,but I don't remember ever really feeling strained for resources or a real big need to craft much of anything. The ability to craft on the fly in the heat of combat made things easy.

I can see how it would be a burden to someone though.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn

I remember hunting animal skins/meat for upgrades, but that's about it. Nothing too strenuous - just a little time consuming.

I'm going to delete my save file and start over. I know from experience some games don't "take" until the second or third attempt. Annoying, nonetheless.

I watch a video on YouTube entitled "Things to do first in HZD". Don't like doing that type of stuff, either, but I felt I needed to in order to help the adoption process here.
I was in the exact same boat as you. I didn’t realize how RPG heavy the game was. I was expecting it to be more like Uncharted but it’s not. They throw all these weapons out there, collecting and things I felt over whelmed. Furthermore it’s not really a shooter. It’s more stealth based and difficult. I quit after 10 hours.

But I gave it another chance a year later and ended up really enjoying it. Don’t worry so much about the weapons. You can get by with just using your bow and the tripcaster. Other weapons can be ok but not necessary. The story is good but also long. I played on Easy the second time and that also helped.
