We are monitoring and fixing issues in this thread.
Thanks for your patience.
The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
Getting to play the game up close, how do you feel about the game graphically? On par with GOW UE or a noticeable upgrade?
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.
I don't feel the same way about the dropshot, though. That gun really feels like it belongs more to Unreal Tournament than Gears of War. I wish the maps that had the dropshot just stayed with the boomshot the entire time instead of rotating it out with the dropshot.

The only thing I care about graphically in a game like this is the frame rate, and it's a pretty solid 60 FPS, just like Ultimate Edition was.
Xbox One games are never going to be graphical showpieces. I just want them to run reliably.
I've seen some teleporting and frame skipping going on during this Beta, but I think that's a server/client issue and not a hardware performance issue. They're still 6 months away from their ship date, so I'm sure some of that weird visual stuff will improve.
I would love to play this if anyone has an extra code........ I have never played this series and was wondering how it is........ kind of new to xboxone
please pm with a code if anyone can, thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a extra code that was sent to my other gamer tag. I'm not sure how to share it due to it being a redeem code message from Xbox live, if you do just shoot me a message.

Graphically I think Rod and crew are holding back for the beta and things should be polished up by release. As it stands now I don't like the style, looks a bit cartoonist and not as dark & gritty as Gears UE 1-3.
Gameplay wise the shotty is a beast close up as it should be and more consistent than UE. Just have to relearn center screen aiming back to barrel aiming blind fire wise after playing UE heavy.
I don't understand why the Dropshot comes with 3 shots compared to the Boomshot's 2 shots considering that they are both one-hit-kill explosives with lots of splash damage.
Played around 10 matches and it's pretty fun. Projectile aiming threw me off the first game, because I was used to center of the screen aiming and using the COG damage symbol in Gears: UE.
Two things I hope are toned down or given options to turn off completely: camera shake during roadie run and blood splatter on the screen are both overdone.
It really feels like a beta and not the polished marketing "betas" we're accustomed to playing for games only a couple months from release. After playing, I believe Rod when he says it's actually an alpha build.
And it's little to do with how it runs and looks. It holds 60fps fairly well, even at this stage, which I feel is the most important thing. I'm actually surprised it's 1080p, considering other multiplayer games on Xbox One that target 60fps tend to use either dynamic resolution scaling, 900p, or 720p. It's just clear there's somethings missing from animations to sound. The latter is a bit flat to me; not as crunchy and punchy as Gears typically is.
It's hard to explain and something you will experience when playing the beta. The overall feel just isn't quite there yet, but I do think The Coalition is on the right track and this isn't going to be a 343 Halo 4 situation for them as their first outing with Gears.
It's hard to say much else, because I think a lot is going to change by release.
The animations and sound are definitely not up to Gears' usual standards. I think that's probably just a Beta thing, though. I doubt the final version will look and sound this bad.
People have to remember that this is a real Beta that's pretty far away from the game's actual release date, and not just a server stress test like a lot of recent "Betas" have been.
