Top Spin 3 Tips

As we continue our unofficial Top Spin 3 day here at Operation Sports, staff writer Carlos Hernandez has penned a strategy article dealing with general tips for Top Spin 3. If you are having problems adjusting to the new control scheme or if you are new to the game of tennis, this guide is probably for you. Check out Carlos' article, Top Spin 3 Tips.

Quote:
"To play like tennis champions Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova the average gamer would have to practice day and night. Thankfully with Top Spin 3, 2K's latest installment of the highly rated tennis franchise, gamers can take the court as their favorite stars without the demanding schedule and early morning practice routines. But, as you'll soon discover within seconds of playing your first set, even living the fantasy of controlling some of tennis' best comes with a price."

Nice article. There is definitely a learning curve in this game. But, once you get used to the new mechanics, it is very realistic.

i played the demo and had given up on this game but when i took the time to learn how to play and use the mechanics the way they needed to be used. i give this game a 9.2 because this is as close as it comes to the real thing. i dont know how ign gave it a 7.9 they need better writers to rate their reviews.

I've been playing a lot of this game today. Yes, very big learning curve. These tips helped actually.

One thing that is sadly missing is the ability to make your player dive for the ball. Am I missing something, or is there no such thing as a dive animation in this game?

Re: Top Spin 3 Tips

Dives rarely occur in real life, so it is fitting that they are omitted from the game.

Runnings shots are a lot more common, which the game lets you do by holding down LB while tracking down a shot.

Some shot guidelines for beginners:

Quote:
Use the A button (flat) for straight, aggressive shots

Use the B button (top spin) for angled, cross-court shots

Use the X button (slice) for angled, defensive shots and approach shots for leading your player to the net (need to be holding down RB, too, to trigger the animation)

Re: Top Spin 3 Tips

This will really help with my ball placement on my serves in the demo.

Glad to know that some of this helped a few people.

It's a different beats against the CPU but a lot of what I wrote works better against the human player. At least, that's my experience.
