Agreed!

And by dropping licensing, a development team is no longer shackled to a yearly, season-based release, which has shown to only provide minimal upgrades between releases. By extending game cycles, it would give development teams more time to implement, test, and execute improvements, new game modes, etc. instead of games that are launched with bugs and glitches.

But the problem is the money. Shareholders care about the money. Investors care about the money. Execs and suits care about the money. Leagues care about the money. No where in this are people concerned with creating a superior product which would - SURPRISE - bring in the money.
