How I would rank the sports games that I've played:

1) NBA 2K15 - NBA 2K15 post patch easily gets the nod from me. Pre-patch it was wide open with each of the sports games I've played being pretty damn good, but legacy issues continue to hold some of the back while being shallow kept the new guy in town down. Once the fouls and CPU 3 point shooting came, then this game moved to a whole new level. The addition to MyLeague to this iteration along with CPU AI that's second to none, then this game is head and shoulders above the rest.

2) Madden 15 - While legacy issues (like penalties, injuries and proper WR/DB interaction) continue to hold this game back, this game does have one positive over all of the other team sports games.... And that is a complete and working online franchise mode. That is why this game has been a constant in my PS4 for the last 5 months or so and probably the game that I spend the most time playing in 2014.

3) EA UFC - The game play was fun, however you can only play this game for so long before it starts getting stale. I will say one thing about this game and that's the dev team is one of the best, most engaging teams around. The post release work that they put into this game is second to none. Hopefully, they will add a League or at the very least an event mode to their next game to give the game so longevity.

4) The Show 15 - The Show did what The Show does and had great game play. Even though I have this game ranked fourth it could have easily be second (2,3 & 4 could be interchangeable honestly). I have to admit that two things kind of kept me from really enjoying this game. The first being that I'm really not a baseball fan anymore and the second being the online experience. I decided to join a online franchise for the first time and after a week or two of games not registering and the schedules being glitched I just couldn't handle it anymore. Sadly after having a bad experience online, I just couldn't go back to offline and ended up selling the game within the first month of release.

Choosing between 2K15 and MLB 14 is really tough. Both are just such great games, but with 2K having some pretty serious technical problems I'm not so sure you can put it over MLB 14.

Best game.....OOTP 15..... So much replay value and variety....it gets better every season! It's a shame if you haven't checked it out yet!

Worst game of the year NHL15.... Big disappointment in a franchise I have supported for so many years....

The golf club for me.

MLB and 2k have been good efforts, but so many little things that are SO annoying that hold me back from fully enjoying it.

It's refreshing to see HB studios do something different that many on OS want-no yearly releases with regular content updates. I hope it is something we see more of in the future instead of watching the big dogs muck it up year after year.

reluctantly...NBA 2K15. Game is great but game BOOSTS have no place in online multiplayer videogames. We want equal playing field, period. 2K is getting enough of our $$$ without using these corrupt Boosts for VC cash. My team / squad / blacktop team etc shouldn't have to be at an disadvantage because we don't buy boosts for every 5 games.

This has probably been the best year for sports games in quite some time. It all started with MLB The Show 14. Then of course Madden and NBA 2K.

All three of those games for me are in regular rotation. Believe it or not it was a tough choice between all of them. But once again and not surprisingly The Show get's the most game time from me. Thanks to the fantastic addition of Quick Counts I was able to play every game of my Yankees franchise and finish year one and move on to year two already. I was also able to play 80% (summing the other 20%) of my games to finish a 1984 season replay. The year to year save carry over is another game changing addition. I feel zero pressure to play fast. I can just play my games and know I will be able to carry over my Yankees franchise without starting over. Add to that the ability to create master season/franchise mode files for the incredible classic rosters and you have IMO Baseball gaming utopia.

Hit variety has never been better. Pitching to the AI this year was stepped up big time with CPU players chasing out of the zone which really adds immersion. I have played well over 300 games on The Show 14 and I still see new things, get the most incredible variety and always enjoy myself.

NBA 2K15 is amazing as well. Post patch it is the best basketball game I have ever played bar none.

Madden took a major step forward and I am excited for the future of he franchise for the first time since the PS2 days.

My vote goes of course to The Show 14, but make no mistake. Sports video gaming IMO has never been better on the court, field and diamond. And hopefully soon on the ICE and in the Boxing Ring (bring back Fight Night!!!! For the new gen!!).
