What's more important to you?

After watching trailers, reading developer blogs, and scanning every nook and cranny of the Internet for more details, what's more important to you, when it comes time to purchase a game?

Re: What's more important to you?

Gameplay and Franchise are neck and neck for me. Give me a game that properly represents the sport it approximates as best as it can, and I'm happy.

Some genres are more skewed than others, for example, I've put more hours into creating boxers, MMA fighters and, yes, wrestlers in Fire Pro Wrestling World, but I barely even play the actual game, because it's that much more interesting to program the CPU, and watch stuff happen. Likewise, in a boxing or a MMA game, I'm mostly sticking to single player exhibition fights, but in NBA 2K, I've usually put a lot of focus into MyLeague or Season after finetuning a roster, and used to dump obscene amounts of time into PES's Master League, or the old school Madden Franchise.

Modern Madden's approach to Franchise, by contrast, is so underwhelming(I do hate the XP concept), that I went from an every year purchase in the PS2 and early PS3 era, to spacing my purchases out.

The most important thing for me. Is the Demo. If I get pulled in by the demo. And I keep playing it over and over and over. I'm going to buy the game. It's that simple.

I hate blogs. Because things changes on release. I can't tell you how many times I've been excited for a certain detail or feature. And then they remove when I get the game

Re: What's more important to you?

I think it's a combination of gameplay videos and blogs. I enjoy both.

Poor to mediocre gameplay (especially sports games) that only look good is like a movie with real nice CGI and no storyline.

Re: What's more important to you?

Good gameplay can make bad modes fun. Gameplay should always be the priority.
