Forza Motorsport Review (Xbox)

We have just posted our Forza Motorsport review. Find out what Mark Fossen has to say about it.
"In every console's lifetime, a few franchises come along that become defining titles: Nintendo's Mario and Zelda, Sega's Virtua Fighter and Sonic, Sony's Final Fantasy and Metal Gear. Microsoft's Xbox has been primarily defined by HALO, and has searched for another franchise that would drive console sales. One historical "killer app" for the PlayStation has been the Gran Turismo series, and while Microsoft tried to compete with Project Gotham, it didn't quite hit the mark as itís arcade leanings separated it from the hardcore that drive Turismoís sales and word of mouth."

Very, very good stuff. Hits on every major point that I can think of, and even a couple of things that I didn't think of.

Impressive, Mark. I think you sell yourself a bit short on the simracing front.

Hmm... he points out the flaws and still gives it a perfect 5/5. Something not right about that.

"5/5 - A rare and singular achievement in sports gaming. A "must-buy" for any serious gamer."

Nowhere does that say it can't have any flaws.

Re: Forza Motorsport Review (Xbox)

Of course every game has flaws, and I love Forza dearly, I just have to question reviews that give perfect scores to games that have quite a few problems. Kinda like how IGN or whoever gave Gran Turismo a high score of 9.something, even though they went on about the poor AI, etc, etc...

Here the reviewer mentions the over-agressive AI, the underdeveloped drivatar feature, lackluster soundtrack, and what he calls the "supercar" flaw in online play.

The 4/5 suits this better.... 4/5 - An overall solid outing with few flaws. Worth purchasing for most gamers.

I just personally think reviewers are too liberal with the perfect 5/5 and 10/10 scores.

I love the game... it's all I play these days, but I think it has a few too many sloppy little problems to deserve a perfect score.
