I'm sure OS' members appreciate such insightful commentary from people who want to sell them their wares.

I wonder if we should invite EA and Sony to comment negatively on positive reviews of any of 2K's products. Seems that what's good for the goose would be good for the gander, no?

Clay's opinion is exactly that - his opinion.
He's as free to his as you are to yours - but claiming that Clay's biased when you're a member of a competing firm that stands to gain directly from negative reviews of another developer's product is simply beyond the pale.

I expected more professional courtesy from any representative of a company like 2K Games, of which OperationSports.com has enjoyed a long and mutually advantageous relationship with for years.

I'm not confident that misrepresenting OS and belittling it's members - 2K Games' traditionally evangelical customers - is the wisest course of action.

I suppose we'll see, won't we?
For the record, I'm a Product Manager in the Canadian flexible packaging print industry.

The Freelance Design that I do and have done is related to advertising and smaller end, private marketing.

Yes I wrote a lot of the ESPN News feature, it was an unpaid role and based on legacy writing that I had done related to the release of College Hoops 2k4. I hate to break your bubble gentlemen, but I'm not a representative of 2k Sports. I moderate their site, again unpaid, and I've been involved on two titles as a result of having written a legacy posting called "The Long Hard Road of Major Bone" -- a fan work

Nice try fellas, but methinks it is quite funny that you guys are closing ranks as hard as you are and are swinging away at every turn to discredit me. I made valid commentary on your review of MVP 2006 and have given explanations on the rationales thereto. Maybe deal with those rather than running with the personal attack angle

Cheers

Have fun............

I love you how you feel your opinion is right, but Clay's is wrong. Just hilarious that we're not allowed to have opinions.

I've made comment on the review. You guys have made comment on me

Talk to me about my opinion. Talk to me about what I've said.

Seems simple enough

Have fun............

I believe I did, but instead of sticking to that in your response, you immediately went to the "EA Free Pass" game.

And, by the way, as long as we're playing the game of symantics, no one believes for a second that your choice to phrase your signature as "Project Manager, Freelance Designer & writer on College Hoops 2K5" was to list three different vocations. You clearly want your internet persona to be directly linked to 2K Games. The funny thing is, the dozen of people that I have talked to from 2K games...none of them would want your behavior attached to their product for a second.

You may want to change up the agenda before you don't have a side to fight for.

Have fun...

This is your viewpoint on scores. Not everyone holds this to be true. I'll use NCAA Football 2006 as an example. There are big issues with the deep ball being too easy, issues with the number of big plays and issues with CPU zone coverage. There is some slowdown on the PS2 version and they didn't put in in-game saves either. However, I think this is the most fun I have had playing football game in years. I've had to tweak sliders like mad but love the game.

The overall score should be more a reflection of the fun of a game and the replayability of it. Those things carry more weight when it comes down to it for me. That's why I'd be tempted to pretty much give that game a 10/10 despite its flaws. I love playing it and can't wait to play some more. Its all based on your perspective. You may totally disagree with me or Clay but his method of grading is based on his opinion and therefore can't be considered wrong.

it's just about the review when you openly accuse the reviewer of being biased? learn something new every day...

I'm guessing by your comment that you haven't actually been to the 2K Sports site to actually see my signature, because it doesn't offer "Project Manager, Freelance Designer & Writer on College Hoops 2k5" in it. For that, you actually have to go into my profile and look at the field listed "Occupation". My signature is provided as the following:

Quote:
The drive is on to hire me as the NEW GM of your Toronto Raptors

Basketball made me the man I am today; arthritic & bitter

My Games Collection...........
Strangely, I have been occupied as a "Project Manager", as a "Freelance Designer" and a "writer on College Hoops 2k5". The writing was pursuantly picked up for inclusion on College Hoops 2k6, which I didn't actually know about until I saw the game a while back. What this should actually suggest to you that the occupation profile isn't necessarily very up to date -- it's actually circa early 2005 -- especially since in the time since I dropped it in, I have also added other business ownership and a Sales role to my portfolio of "occupations". I didn't tie all of those things together into a singular role, that was a misinterpretation on the part of my "friends" here

If you are talking to people from 2k Games, you are probably having a whole lot more contact with them than I do, quite honestly. So, once again, your intent to either claim or assert that I am some kind of paid plant are false. Here's the deal Clay, I'm a guy, living in Guelph, working in Toronto, who is passionate about virtual games. I haven't come on these boards saying "I am an insider". If I have, you need to show me that quite honestly. I've volunteered my time in a number of pursuits and have contributed, freely, to help in the development of a game

As for why I highlighted the writing in my profile, it's pretty simple, I'm proud of it. If you take any fan of a genre and allow them to be included, I would argue that they would have similar pride. Like I said, you actually have to go and dig for that on the site, but I'm glad that you guys had the desire to both;

a. Do that and,
b. Misrepresent that

Who did we want to assign an agenda to, again?

If you can't take the heat Clay, don't write the review and please don't threaten me, that's beneath contempt. I've made my point and offered the rationales. Attack those

Have fun.............

A couple of other things:

Man it never gets old. Give 2k games a good score and the EA militia calls you a 2k fanboy, give an EA game a good score and the 2k browncoats do the exact opposite.

It's a lose, lose situation.
I think you need to review where I've compared MVP 2006 outside of the EA family of games. To that end, I've only made one comment and that was to say that in looking at ESPN Implementation, you can only compare MVP 2006 to the previous approach provided by VC. As is suggest in addressing that, I offer that one couldn't expect such implementation to rival NFL 2k5, but that the expectation reasonably needed to be more profound than what is apparent in the title in question

I think it's funny that you are suggesting that I have inferred at any point that the good people here shouldn't have an opinion. If you can show me the specific quote where I say, "Y'know the mods at OS really don't deserve an opinion", I would be highly enlightened ans surely mortified. I take issue with opinion, but don't deny that right. I've explained the rationales for my opinion as a counter-point. You guys have explained your thoughts on my opinion by trying to drag out personal attacks and misrepresentations

I look forward to your opinions, quite honestly

Have fun..........

One last thing, I think you need to show me specifically where I said that you offered EA a "Free Pass". The way I read the thread, that's a comment attributed to Joeboo on page two -- I'll look forward to your response
