Surviving the Holiday Sports Gaming Doldrums

The holiday season is usually when the highest profile games are released. Retailers can expect to boost their bottom lines (maybe not this year) and gamers can rejoice in knowing where their time is going during the winter months.

What about sports gamers though?

Most of the major sports games come out between the end of March and the beginning of October. There is still Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 and NCAA Basketball 2009 (along with a few alternative-sports titles), but the point still stands. You could easily catch up on old games but where’s the fun in that? Here’s how you should spend the holiday doldrums gaming.

I used to look forward to CHoops during that time. Now I'll end up buying Gears 2 at Christmas.

Re: Surviving the Holiday Sports Gaming Doldrums

Thanks to BrianFIFAfan I gave FIFA09 a go knowing nothing abour soccer and let me say this game is sports gamers dream. Maybe its because I know littel about the sport but its just pure fun.

With that said I also own NBA2k9 and NHL09 which ive played little add that to NCAA09 online dynasty and sports games needs are filled.

Can't go wrong with GAW2 as the single player is top notch and the multi player will be great yet again when patched. The Horde Mode is also great in its own right.

Right now I also have Far Cry 2 , Deep Space and Saints Row 2 which will get some series playing time as well. Add that to Banjo and Left For Dead and my girlfriend will without a doubt be wishing the red rings of death on my 360.

Re: Surviving the Holiday Sports Gaming Doldrums

Since 2k is done with college hoops, I'm waiting for the 2k8 college rosters to be finished and that will be like my "new" sports game for the holiday season.

Remember when Madden came out in November?

I don't buy many games, but over the last month I have bought RB2 bundle, GoW 2 and COD WW. Only other game I might get is NCAA College Basketball, but that might wait until Christmas.
