2015 Sports Game of the Year: Best Card Collecting Mode

For better or worse, card collecting modes are here to stay. They make money for companies after a game has been released, and it's become one of the easiest ways to add new content -- in the form of new cards -- to a current sports game. So at this point what's become interesting to watch with these card modes is how the various developers implement a feature that is a "given" in a card collecting mode. Whether that's how they do pack openings, or how they do the stock market or how they divvy out rewards, the execution is what separates these card collecting modes at this point. With that in mind, this year there were plenty of very strong contenders in the Card Collecting Mode category, so let's get to the winners.

...I do. I've played nearly 500 games of Madden online (draft champs/UT/ranked). As someone who considered Madden's evolution on PS3 (or last gen) a complete disaster I've been really impressed with 15 and 16. UT and Diamond Dynasty do have an addictive quality to them. Though I haven't spent on dime on either mode, they are the primary modes I play in these sports games and to be honest, I/m not really sure why.

I don't like how Madden looks or plays on the field, but that didn't stop me from voting for its version of Ultimate Team as the best designed and maintained. MUT simply puts out more content than any other card collecting mode, though I do wish it had features like customizable uniforms and cards that would automatically update based on the game's regular rosters like MyTeam and Diamond Dynasty both do.
