lol kinda funny as I'm in management at Kwik Trip. It's surprising how many people mistake us for Quik Trip even though there's none of Wisconsin.

For being stuck in the retail world, I can't really complain about my job. They treat their employees really, really good. The worst part of the long, long hours...

Re: The official "OS Occupation" Thread.

I'm currently a stay at home dad, collecting unemployment compensation.

My former employer, Advanced Glassfiber Yarn, close the majority of their manufacturing at our plant and moved it to their South Carolina and Chinese plants. My department is the only one currently running, but since we were unionized, I lost my job to people with more seniority. I made continuous fiberglass mat for such applications as fiberglass ladders, wind turbine blades, car parts, scotchbrite pads and a whole host of other fields.

I'd like to find a new job, because I get bored with being in the house for most of my life watching after our 1 year old son. The only problem is that I can't find a job that pays a half decent wage to be able to take it and keep up with our bills.

This. Unemployment is a blessing and a curse in many states. It's either so low that it's lower than min. wage, so you better find a job doing something...or it's enough to 'help out' with bills based on your previous wage...but finding a job that's worth working and paying for daycare, etc. is tough, because they say "economy's down can't afford decent wages."

Sorry to hear that. On top of everything else going on in the economy, its tough for people doing the hiring to justify bringing someone on who's over-qualified, for fear of them becoming a "squeaky wheel" donw the road, feeling that they are underpaid, or that they'll just leave when they find something better. It may actually be better to have no experience right now in the job hunting market.

Re: The official "OS Occupation" Thread.

I run an office full of nitwits that couldn't handle the everyday life of paper selling if it weren't for me.

Haha.

Most of you know already, but I'm an Executive Chef at a rural hospital in Central California.
