It was eight years ago. Eight years since our new reality was created. On that fateful day, September 11^th, 2001, our freedom was attempted to be stripped from us. Because of those four planes, terrorists, and thousands of American lives lost, we now live in a new reality. A reality which we did not necessarily choose to live in, but one to which we are now obliged for the rest of our lives. There's a daily reminder of September 11th, 2001. In the news, in our minds. The images play in my mind constantly. So many people lost their lives on that day, for the sole reason that they were American. American, just like you and I, trying to provide an honest living for their families--taking the OPPORTUNITIES that our country had given them to do so. Terrorists have attempted to take what we have fought for, what we have paid for with our blood, sweat and tears over centuries, but we have risen stronger and fiercer.



They may have broken our hearts, but they will never, EVER, break our spirit.

9/11/2001. Never again.

It's hard to believe it's been 8 years already. I agree with some of the thematrix said in his opening post and that's all i'll say about that.

I just hope that in the end there can be some sanity and peace in this world. God bless ALL those who serve and have served in the cause of freedom no matter what country they represent.

I can't believe it's been 8 years...wow. Doesn't seem that long ago.
I am grateful to all those who have since given their lives for our country and our cause, you have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. May you rest in peace and god bless your families.

I actually joined the Navy, right before the USS Cole was attacked on October of 2000. That having happened right after I got out of boot camp, and finished battle stations really pissed me off. This had me wanting blood though. I've been over there Iraq and Afghanistan doing FFF (Find, fix, finish) missions. I've lost friends and gained others. The one thing that I really keep with me 8 years later is the fact that Freedom isn't free and everyday countless men and women are serving this great country to make sure that that bill is paid in full daily.

My signature says it...but I guess it doesn't say it all.
I just got back from a memorial service and in some ways it's as fresh as it happened yesterday and in others, it seems like 100 years ago already.
While I didn't lose any actual blood family that day as Jackdog did, I might as well have. Too many brothers to list here. God bless them all. I miss you guys.

I can't believe it's been 8 years...we must never forget. God bless all the victims and their families and all of the heroes of that day and from then on and God bless our troops.

Hard to think about that day...just damn hard.
