Her top three probably runs:

1) Ticket to Ride
2) Settlers
3) Dominion
Now THOSE are some board games. A lot of you guys need to drop the boring American board games like Monopoly, etc.

Pick up Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Colisseum, and then once you get a feel for that, move on up to Puerto Rico, Agricola, etc.

This is a great place to find the best board games for you: http://boardgamegeek.com/browse/boardgame

Re: Favorite board game?

Friends are too cool for a board/boxed game, apparently.

Monopoly, Pictionary, Risk, Axis & Allies, Jenga, Scrabble are the first that came to mind.

Jesus. Only OS would have hardcore board gamers.

Don't knock them until you try them. I get more enjoyment out of a day of boardgames with my wife and friends than I've had with any videogame released in the last two years.

"Hardcore". I play about 10 times a year, if that. They're just fun games. Nothing hardcore about them, they're just immensely more satisfying than what you find at Target & Wal-Mart (aka, any American board games).

I mean, you never considered those stores the best place to find high quality items of a certain type, why would it be true for board games? It's just run-of-the-mill boring stuff there.

Go to Amazon and pick this up for cheap, it's like the Super Mario Bros. of board games: it's fun, it's still good after all these years, and it gets you into other, better boardgames.

I never did. I was just making a joke that only OS would have people getting called out for having to step their board gaming up.
