    Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread

I know this is a bit early in the year to be doing this, as most of us live in cold weather climates, but I still BBQ in the Winter. I smoked a Ham on Christmas Day in about 20* cold!

I have about 23 years experience in the restaurant business and I love to cook.
I also have a BBQ Blog on Facebook complete with recipes and pictures from my BBQ and my home kitchen.

I thought I would share some of that with you guys and would love to read and see pics of some of your ideas.

I'll start by posting My Christmas Ham and what/how I did it.

Feel free to comment and leave your own experiences.

I've heard many people tell me how good BBQ pizza is and have never tried it.

We also BBQ all year round. Really love corn on the cob done on the BBQ.

I'll tell you what, nothing beats making your own pizza from scratch, but even if you use a frozen pizza, there is nothing like cooking it on the grill!

How long would you put it on for (not frozen)?

Depends on your heat and if its direct heat or not, but its about the same as puting it in the oven if your temp is around 350*. 15-20 min.

Just keep an eye on the crust and keep the lid closed to melt the cheese.

The number one thing I can suggest to anyone when cooking or grilling, is LEAVE THE FOOD ALONE!
It will cook better without you messin with it!

I've been thinking pretty hard about grilling the past week or so. It's still in the 20's and 30's here so I'm a month or more away from decent weather for it.

Anyways, I'm looking to get a nice gas grill this year. I'd like to find something for under $200. Any suggestions?

Well youve started a discussion that could have a thread of its own. "Gas vs Charcoal"
I personally prefer charcoal because of the flavors you can impart into the food, but gas grills are great for a fast and clean cook.

I would shop around the net and look for what suits your needs.

This is a nice one, because its the best of both worlds and is right around your price point.
Its over $200 but only by $40 and maybe you can find a better deal on it somewhere else or on sale.

This place is a good stepping off point for window shopping and price comparison.

Careful with your terms. BBQ pizza is literally pizza with pulled pork on it, not one done on the grill... unless you want to grill a BBQ pizza, then have at it!

Yeah! Depends on where youre from. Some places BBQ means sauce or rub and some places it means to grill it.

I use both. Its my Backyard BBQ Grill!

That shrimp and pasta looks pretty damn good. Would've never even thought of doing something like that on the grill.

                        It was INCREDIBLE!

I cooked the pasta first on the stove while the shrimp cooked on the grill with butter & garlic.
Then I tossed the pasta & shrimp together with some pesto and let them marry for a few min.

Be careful not to over cook either of them. Pasta gets mushy and shrimp gets rubbery!

Do you have any issues maintaining temp if you use charcoal for a 4+ hour smoke? That's my biggest issue with those long cooking times.
