Re: Christmas 2014

This Christmas will be a tough one for me as I lost my mom to cancer earlier this year. We were not big on Christmas and the holidays but we always spent time together. Now that she is not here thing are very different.

Don't mean to bring gloom to this thread but just not feeling the holidays this year.

What are you getting your significant others for Christmas?

I got my wife, a LV wallet, a LV Clutch, LV sunglasses and a black Michael Kors watch for her stocking. A little over board, but I can never repay her for the nights she slept on a chair in the hospital after my accident. I will never forget that and how it made me feel. The only time I get angry at those who hit me, is when I think of her seeing me being run over and when I think of her curled up on that chair every night. So, at Christmas and her birthday I like to spoil her.
You learn with 4 kids that Christmas gifts are for them...not necessarily for you and your spouse.

My wife and I are getting away to Daytona for a quick weekend getaway in 2 weekends. Spend a couple nights at the beach and there is a huge flea market that we'll walk around and probably find some bargains. We bought a new car this year for her, so that was our big purchase (2014 Kia Optima - NICE). We're going to get a combined new HD tv for the other room. That will pretty much call it a day...

Sounds like fun. When we have kids it will definitely be about them.

Hey, 100.3 went first with every other song being a Christmas song and (I think) forced 93.9 to switch over before they planned to.

I been listening to Christmas music this week to get in the mood. I usually put it off with "it's too early to listen to this!" and by the time I feel like listening to it, it's over. I'll probably put up most decorations this weekend if it's in the mid-40's like they predict.

I'm at the stage where I don't care about getting gifts (I'm 29 and single, I buy myself most of the crap I want throughout the year, hah), or even spending time with family because I see them throughout the year - I just like the season. Putting up decorations, cranking up some holiday music, and watching the snow is just awesome. I actually enjoy shoveling so unless it's insane, I don't even mind doing that. This whole stretch from Thanksgiving-to-Christmas is usually my favorite time of year.

My traditions are simple, but scheduled to be the same as usual. Get together with my mom's side on Christmas Eve, and dad's side on Christmas Day.

Sorry to hear man cancer really sucks. My ant is going throw cancer for a second time after not having it for like 14 years. I still enjoy Christmas a lot has it is my favorite holiday but not has much has I used to because I have trouble with depression. The depression comes form being 25 and having trouble finding a new job has I hate and am burned out on my job and felling like I am never going to beable to afforded to movie out on my own. Been trying to find a new job for like 2 years but all I hear is come back later we are not higher, maybe in a month ect. Also being 25 and I have never had a gf or went out on a date and I am social awkward. Because of all of those things I just fell stuck in life and like nothing is going to change. So I don't want another year to be over has it is like just another year of my life with my life not progressing at all.

Same thing happened on one of our trees. So I bought a new strand and put it over the old lights. I'll buy a new one next year and throw that one out.

Re: Christmas 2014

Regarding burnt out light strands. A couple years ago, I bought this Christmas light looking gun. It was used to track the actual burnt out light and replace it. Every single time, that thing found the correct light either on the tree or outside lights and once replaced, it worked. Quite honestly the best $10 I have ever spent especially around the holidays.
