Why is a second degree necessary? I still think for several professions in workforce that a degree shouldn't be required.

Depending on the field you can get more money, get a promotion, more job security, etc. And I agree with you about the last part. There are jobs out there that shouldn't require any degree but do.

Perhaps it's not but these days it certainly helps with many jobs. I've never been driven by money and I've always loved learning so it's fine with me. Plus the connections you can make can be invaluable for your career.

In terms of the IT field, I think at the minimum an Associates would be helpful to transition. I work in the IT field, mostly on the legal side with those coming overseas, but the field is definitely booming.
