Would you be in Favor of Standardizing Holidays to Certain Days of the Week?

For me, 4th of July on a Monday sucked this year. Had to go into work the next day and therefore didn't want to be out super late with the family for fireworks to really enjoy the holiday. The one good thing about it being on a Monday is it did extend the weekend and we did some celebrating on Saturday and Sunday.

We were discussing at work today whether or not folks would be for pushing certain holidays to Friday/Mondays to add convenience to maybe the majority of the population.

4th of July is tricky, IMO, because unlike any other holiday (sans Cinco de Mayo), the date carries so much importance that most use it to identify the holiday as opposed to Independence Day. It's a 4th of July parade or a 4th of July celebration....rarely an Independence Day celebration.

The other ones that stand out to me are Halloween (another one that sucks to have mid-week to) and Christmas (not as big of a deal for me personally because I always take the week off between Christmas and New Years).

Personally, I'd be all for standardizing these to a Friday (4th of July - 1st Friday in July), Halloween (Last Friday of October) and Christmas (4th Friday of December).

On top of this, I'd move the Superbowl to Saturday.

Thoughts?

PTO, dawg.

I like the rotating holidays. It breaks up the week and keeps things from being too standardized.

Hell not everybody get to pick when they want to take their vacation either. Certain times of the year are strictly off limits for vacation time for some jobs.

No. Pretty sure many people I know did stuff Sunday evening for 4th of July if they didn't want to do it Monday. Nothing says you can't adjust your plans. Or take PTO. That's what it's there for.

It's nice if they fall on a Monday or Friday, but I'm fine with the way it is.

Now, if we could just get employers to give days off for every single federal holiday...

Yep, I can't take off any time during February, May, July, or November.
