Re: Year 3 Discussion - 2016-2017

Ole Miss plays about as poorly as they could, yet still manages to beat UCLA 56-42. The Rebels were never really able to establish a running game, so they turned to the air where Jameel Whittaker looked like a Heisman candidate for 2.5 quarters until the turnover bug hit. He ended with 450 yards, 7 TDs and 6 Int. Robert Nkemdiche, as expected, anchored the very weak defense with 4 tackles for loss. Overall, a decent start to the season for Ole Miss.

#17 Ole Miss Rebels come from behind to beat the #9 UCLA Bruins 42-38 for the second win this week. UCLA got the ball back, down 35-31 with 2:55 left after a Whittaker sack-fumble, but punched it in with 1:09 left, giving the Rebels too much time to respond. James Whittaker hit Evan Engram for the winning score with 11 seconds left. Once again, the ground game for Ole Miss left much to be desired, although it was a big improvement from the first game. Whittaker was underwhelming again with 7 TDs but 5 Ints. UCLA focused most of their attention and stopping the duo of Cody Core and Laquon Treadwell, leaving Engram open all day. Engram amassed 224 yards and 4 TDs to pace the offense. Ole Miss is now primed for a week 2 showdown with Tennessee.

Re: Year 3 Discussion - 2016-2017

#6 Auburns survives a horrible start

USC opened the game with a 77 yard bomb over the Auburn defense followed by an interception and a field goal. Down 10-0 the Tigers threw another interception that led to a 17-0 lead for the Trojans. A third straight interception gave the Trojans 24-0 lead on a 70 yard bomb. The Tigers were moving the ball but kept giving it back. Auburn finally intercepted one themselves on an underthrown pass that led to a TD and eventually a FG to close the half.

Trailing 24-10 with the ball the Tigers knew that the game was far from over. They continued to move the ball but played it safe in the redzone and scored back to back TDs to tie the game. After a go-ahead touchdown late in the third they were ready to put the game away but a fumble recovered by USC was scooped up for 6 and the game was tied at 31. Both teams stalled on a drive and with 2 minutes left at midfield the Tigers were able to get into FG range and win the game with a last second kick.

Tale of 2 halves as the Tigers dodge a close loss. Auburn will host #18 Kentucky next week.

Arkansas RTA

Starts off their season with a 40-21 win over Toledo. Knocking out their 95 OVR HB in the first quarter made things easier. Austin Allen cements himself as the starter going 17-27 for 188 Yds and a TD.

GG.. I picked the wrong f'n play on that QB sneak.. I thought I picked Power O... Oh well.. Was a bad/risky decision..

Bama loses by 3 when they opt to go for it on 4th and 1 with 1:47 left and a 47 yard field goal in sight. Both teams had all three time outs left.. Couldn't shut down the run, playing a pass defense and SC was able to march down and get to FG range with under 8 seconds left.
