#4 Miami @ UCLA
Miami takes its longest trip of the season across the country to face the UCLA Bruins in what ended up being a crazy game.
UCLA started with the ball and just pounded Miami on the ground until they got a 7-0 lead. Miami tried to respond but had to settle for 3. Canes get a stop and respond with a long drive that gets them a 10-7 lead from RB Travis Homer. UCLA is moving the ball but throws a pick on a HB screen. Both teams stall and Miami puts up another 3 before the half. 13-7.
First drive of the 2nd Miami gets the ball in a nice situation to extend the lead but throws a pick in 2 plays. UCLA scores on a QB scramble, 14-13 lead. Miami gets another long drive mostly through the air and Shireffs connects with TE McCollum for a 14 yard td pass to go up 20-14. Bruins start the 4th quarter finishing a 13 play drive with a 5 yd td run. 21-20 with 5:23 on the clock. Canes get a 98 yard KR from WR Mike Harley and go back up 26-21 after failing a 2pt. UCLA goes back to their run game which they used all game and Stephens get his 3rd td from 66 yards out. 2pt good, UCLA leads 29-26 with 4:35 left.
Canes WR Jeff Thomas houses a 99 yarder on the ensuing KR and gives the Canes the lead right back, 33-29 with 4:23 on the clock. Canes force a 3 and out and Homer finally gets enough running room to drain the last 3 minutes and gives Miami a big road win to start the season.
