2025-2026 Canes Preview
With Coach Golden's first full class leaving the Canes face the challenge of replacing alot of talent in what could be a rebuilding year by Miami standards. The biggest loss will be 3 year starter Rodney Houston who helped turn this program around but like many other positions, the Canes have a young talented but unproven player filling in his place.
The offense will now be in the hands of FR (RS) QB Nate Bush who Canes fans feel will be even better than Houston when its all said and done. Adam Harrell will start at tailback but the Canes have 2 more just like him who cant wait to touch the ball. The receivers are all back and all bigger, stronger, and faster than a year ago where they were already unstoppable. The oline is the best coach Golden has had since taking the job.
The defense will be lead by All-American LB Ryan Patterson. Patterson had a dominant Freshman campaign and looks to do even more this season with help from 2 true blue chip freshman LBs Thorne and Bobo. The Canes feel that both have the same upside as Patterson. The dline will lack depth but are solid at all starting spots. The secondary is one of the fastest in the country and return CB Wendell Rogers who led the team in interceptions and FS Brian Gillet who had a breakout freshman year and will get his first start as a Cane.
Although this Canes team is fairly young, they have the talent to finish higher than they did a year ago, which was #2 in the country. Nate Bush will be the key to this team. He is young but if he can limit his freshman mistakes this team could be playing for a national title at the end of the year.
