2018: Week 2

NMSU 49- FSU 40

In a surprising loss FSU stumbled out of the gates giving up 36 first half points while only putting up 7 of their own in that same half. The second half for the Noles was better but it was too little, too late as the offense put up in the second half and the still lackluster defense showing in the 4th quarter gave the game to the NMSU Aggies.
Deondre Francois again was pressured constantly being sacked 8 times while throwing a pick and losing a fumble. He did however throw for 339 yards and 3 TDs. Bad news is he was injured on the last play of the game on a 2 point conversion attempt. He tore his pectoral and will be out for 2 weeks. The backup will need to step up for this team in need of a leader. Cam Akers also had a great day with 102 yards on 15 carries and the team should look to get him more carries to see success in the future.
Pass protection will have to be a focal point in the Noles next practice but the team is running out of time to put things together.

Re: 2018: Week 2

Miami Oh 35 Miami 28

With a 1:47 left in the 4th the Redhawks Ragland threw his 4th TD to take a scored 28-21 lead. The Hurricanes answered 20 seconds later with a 66yd bomb to Jeff Thomas. Things were looking good for the Hurricanes after a 3 and out by their defense game the offense the ball with 48 seconds to go. Things turned for the worse when Freshman Perry forced a ball into coverage that was picked and set up Ragland to Martin TD for the upset with 12 seconds left.

A close game start to finish. The hurricanes struggled all day protecting the football, 6 turnovers. Malik Rosier only had 138 passing yards in the 3rd quarter before being knocked out with a concussion. It was evident that the back up freshman was just that, a back up. Struggling to hit open receivers and fumbling 4 times. The canes did manage to run for 284 team yards led by Travis Homer 131 yds 2 TDs.
Redhawks QB Gus Ragland had himself a day, 350 yds 5tds 1Int along with another 45 yds rushing in the upset. The defense was led by OLB Koeing, 4tfl 1Int, and DE Moses 3 sacks.

This may just be the eye of the storm for the Hurricanes as next week they are in Death Valley to face #2 Clemson. Miami needs to find answers in their passing game this week at practice to have any chance at being on the other side of the upset in week 3.

Nightmare 2nd Quarter Costs WVU the Game

All was going well in the first quarter of the season, as RB Kennedy McCoy helped tie the game up with 17 seconds left. But, as soon as the teams switched sides, all momentum for the Mountaineers was lost, falling 24-0 in the 2nd. Will Grier tried to lead a 2nd half comeback, but the Oklahoma offense simply put up too many points to catch them. The game ended with a score of:

#17 West Virginia 48 #7 Oklahoma 62

Re: 2018: Week 2

Michigan 38 at Notre Dame 41

In a high scoring classic, #12 Notre Dame beats #14 Michigan on a 34 yard FG as time expired. Notre Dame started the game up 17-0 with a pair of long TD passes from QB Wimbush (18-26, 311 yds, 2 TD, 2 int) before Michigan scored right before halftime to get some momentum into the half.

Michigan couldn't be stopped in the 2nd half scoring 31 points led by QB Patterson (22-36, 299 yds, TD, 2 int). The 4th quarter was insane. Michigan tied it up at 31 with an INT return for a TD followed by Notre Dame returning a 106 yd Kickoff return for a touchdown. Michigan tied the game following a late fumble with a minute to go but Notre Dame marched down the field in 33 seconds to win the game.
