As you can see, not much information yet...

The game is due out this summer for the PS2 and PS3.

Good stuff. I'm torn between getting the Kanzenban version of 5 or holding out for 6 now. Given I already have the standard 5 I might just as well wait for 6.

supposedly Konami will have a big mode in PYS6 and if its a World Baseball Classic mode watch it have the actual team Japan and generic names for the other countries.

Good stuff. I'm torn between getting the Kanzenban version of 5 or holding out for 6 now. Given I already have the standard 5 I might just as well wait for 6.

Just wait for PYS6, kanzenban was not that different than PYS5 other than updated rosters.

I was just recently turned on to this game and I have soaked up any gameplay vids I could find. This game is tight. The batting cursor reminds me of ASB. This is a title I must have!

It would be far better than great itd make it damn near essential.
I can barely set up my japanese Psn account let alone play Yakyu with any success as is.

The only beef Id have then would be its made by Konami who have perhaps the most ridiculous online policy of a games company ever.

I agree on the English request but doubt it will happen. Konami and NPB really don't see a non-asian audience as part of their demographic. Justin.tv aside, there is no official way to watch games in the US. In fact, Yahoo Sports blocks broadcasts of NPB games outside of Japan. Few if any NPB teams have an English site and the league itself only put up an English site this year after Japan won the WBC. And, if you have read about PYS5 sales figures, they only moved 105K copies. This is only a quarter of the top two PS3 games sold in Japan and a third of what The Show did in March alone. And, the majority of sales for PYS were probably in Japan. So, the need to invest resources in translating the game to English is probably a non-issue for Konami.

I think we can only hope that enough Baseball playing, non-Japanese speaking Asians (Chinese, Koreans and Taiwanese) want an English version and do their talking with their wallet.

But, I am with you as I feel I am only playing 75% of what the game has to offer. I can't figure out the challenge to potential, how to train guys for anything other than position improvement (BTW, if someone can show me how to turn a reliever into a starter, I would really appreciate it), and what all the story line stuff after you finish a pennant match says. Konami put so much effort into it that I feel like I am really missing some great things that will only increase the realism and re-playability of the game.

The language barrier does indeed get in the way. With this manager mode it looks like at least the individual games won't be too much to tackle, but it remains to be seen if more complex things will happen, like between games for example.

My hope is that one of the "six new modes and features" ends up being a playoff mode. That way there can at least be something more than single games, and something less lengthy and complex than the season/franchise/superstar (or whatever it is called) modes.

I agree the language barrier is too difficult to overcome. Sure there is a useful translation guide but its really annoying having to pause the game and read the guide just to make a pitching change or sub in players.

oh hell yeah folks...WBC mode is confirmed for PYS6!! for all of us Americans we will finally be able to play as Major Leaguers like Jeter and even Pedro freakin Martinez in a Pro Yakyu Spirits game...I can't ****ing wait, this will kick epic ***!!!!!

edit: by the way, since they both come from Konami, I am guessing the WBC mode in PYS6 will be exactly like the WBC mode in MLB power pros 2009, meaning the WBC roster will be completely separate from the other game modes so you can only use the WBC roster guys in the WBC mode and not any of the other modes like Season or My life. It sucks, but just being able to play as guys like Ortiz, Reyes, and especially Ichiro and Dice-K using the PYS engine is good enough for me.
