Re: Your Top 5 Baseball Games of all time

Anybody remember MicroLeague for the commodore? I played this thing to death when I was a kid. Good times back in the early 80s.

Re: Your Top 5 Baseball Games of all time

I cant believe Earl Weaver Baseball got only 1 response...I think the Amiga version was one of the best baseball games ever made. Each player rating actually ment something and you could see the subtle differences they brought to the game. My friends and I would play for hours ...just drafting the players and waiting to see the ratings on the NEW player disks each year was a blast in itself!

I'll never forget how I drafted Shawn Dunston just because of his defense alone. I think he had like an 8 Range and a 10 Arm. And you really saw this distinction on the field...it was awesome

Another really good game was Tony LaRussa II

and

World Series Baseball 98 on the Saturn...great gameplay

Thank you!!!!!

I was wondering if anyone here was over 30 with the games they were picking! I also played my copy of Microleague to death. I had the GM disc and the stat compiler disc as well. That was such a great game for it's time. Earl Weaver and FPSBB were also fantastic.
I'll give a shout out to MLB Power Pros too. Wicked fun current generation game.

Re: Your Top 5 Baseball Games of all time

Wow....top 5, huh?!?

OK, here's my list:

1. ProYakyu Spirits Series (XBOX360 & PS3)
2. All-Star Baseball 2005 (XBOX)
3. Baseball Stars 1 & 2 (NES) and Bases Loaded Series (NES)
4. World Class Baseball (Turbo Grafx 16) and World Series Baseball 98 (Saturn)
5. MLB 98 (PS1), MVP 05 (XBOX) and Baseball Stars 1 & 2 (NEO-GEO)

Honorable metions; RBI Baseball Series (NES), Tecmo Baseball (NES), Tommy LaSorda Baseball (Genesis), Earl Weaver Baseball (Amiga) and High Heat 2004 (XBOX).

Guilty Pleasure Inside Pitch 2003; this was the first ever CONSOLE game to support online multiplayer. I met some very good friends with it, and still own it (play it once in a while).

Anyhow, I LOVE BASEBALL!!! and if the game is good, I'll play it no matter how old it is. I still play and own most of the games I mentioned.

Inside Pitch was not the first console game to support online play, it was WSB2K2 for Dreamcast.

My list in order:

1- Pro Yakyu 5
2- MLB 07 for PS3
3- MVP Baseball 05
4- Ken Griffey JR Baseball for SNES
5- MLB 09 for PS3 (the difficulty bug make this the last)

Re: Your Top 5 Baseball Games of all time

Sorry to burst your bubble fiedler2k3, but Inside Pitch 2003 was THE FIRST CONSOLE BASEBALL GAME to support online play. Dreamcast games you mention are the NFL 2K games on that system.

The first 2K baseball game to support online play was SEGA's Major League Baseball 2K4 (I own it), which came out the same year as ASB 2005 (the first ASB game to support online) EA then jumped into the online action with MVP 05 (I think MVP 04 supported online on the PS2).

If you don't beleive me you can look it up on the internet. Trust me, while people look forward to the Halo's and MGS's and FF's games every year; I have done the same with baseball games (since 1983)
