    iOOTP 2011 Hands-On Preview

Out of the Park Baseball (OOTP) has been one of the finest games in the text-sim realm for many years now. WIth the recent trend of text sims porting over to the iPlatform, it was only a matter of time until iOOTP made its own move.

I recently got a chance to play an advanced copy of iOOTP for the iPhone, and I can say that the game definitely translates over to the smaller screen, but it's not entirely perfect yet.

I don't personally have an idevice, but this looks pretty good. Anything that helps get the OOTP name out there is a good thing too.

I guess I had to much German beer that night.

The screen shot is pretty old, I corrected it a long time ago.

Will this work on iPhone 3G? I like to assume no as Apple has already released two versions since, but I like to also disappoint myself in hopes that I'd be pleasantly surprised.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

It's too bad this is not an Android app too. I'd be all over that when it comes out.

We will not officially support the iPhone 3G but I have one and it runs ok (you still need iOS 4.0 or newer). The startup is a bit longer but once you are in the game it runs ok. Just make sure not to tap Manual, More OOTP Games or Community as they will open in external browser and the 3G has no multitasking (closing the game).

I could go for a good German beer or two......or with the way the Twins are playing, a dozen.

Oh, and tell Marcus to hurry up and get version 12 out so we can get our new league started.

This is looking very cool! Definitely purchasing it as soon as it hits!

I take it, that it runs well on the 3Gs?

I did all my testing on an iPod Touch 3rd Generation which is basically the same as the iPhone 3GS and we had a few beta tester with the 3GS. The game runs nicely on that device.

I wish this was out already.

You guys still hoping for a Thursday, May 5th release so you can try to be featured in the app store?
