Yes, 100% works. I still play the game pretty often and it is buttery smooth. Unfortunately, you may be too late for the free 2020 upgrade though as I'm not sure if that's still going on.

Yes, it's called Pennant Mode. I'm not sure how many seasons you can play though, I've never gone beyond 3-4.
