It’s not marketed for us. It’s a game made by a Japanese company, about the Japanese professional baseball league, and only released in Japan. It takes time for them to translate and change everything.

You could flip the coin and say why doesn’t The Show have a Japanese language option? Same shtick. I don’t even think they release The Show in Japan. Not sure, can’t find anything specific about it. Maybe in the future since Shohei could market the crap out of it, and MLB is playing some games there next year.

Classic pitching - yes
Auto fielding - yes

It does have classic pitching where you'd simply pick the pitch type, point the analog stick and press the button once. It also does have auto fielding. Two types of auto fielding, one is full auto where the computer will do everything for you (field and throw), or a second one where the computer will simply field the ball but you still must actively press the base button to throw the ball. The great thing about this game is "urgency" is already built into the animations. You don't have to preload animations, etc. Outfielder crow hops are realistically quick. Slow infield dribble and the pitcher or catcher will quickly react in a realistic manner to throw out the runner at first, etc.

As far as directional, I personally still don't truly understand that part of MLB the Show. I've used it a couple times but always went back to zone. Pro yakyuu spirits version 2015 does have manual, assist and zone. There may be other options, but I'm not sure.

Manual - Because the batting cursor is small in PYS, your reflexes/aim must be precise. Cursor is visible. Most challenging if you default pitching speed to "real" plus manual hitting. Hitting is both ratings and physics based meaning the cursor must make contact with the ball. If it's off a centimeter, it's a swing and miss. Bat above the ball, it's a grounder, bat below the ball, it's a pop up and many variation depending on what part of the cursor makes contact with the ball. In field pop up, slow dribblers, infield choppers, line drive fair ball down the line that slices into foul territory, height of pop up also differs, bloopers, balls hit over the outfielders' head, etc. etc. etc. etc. Unlike the other game, PYS doesn't have to advertise about various hit types because it naturally happens in this game. What this game does NOT have is unfortunately check swings.

Assist - There's some leeway. If your aim is at least somewhat close, the computer will help line up the cursor. Cursor is visible.

Zone - With this, the cursor is invisible. I simply push my left analog stick in the direction of where I think the pitch will end up. You don't have to be as precise as either manual/assist. Allows me to play with a "clean screen." Hitting is both ratings based and physics based but with zone hitting I am at least able to hit a couple homeruns here and there with power hitters, which is much more difficult with manual.

Someone make corrections if I'm wrong anywhere.

i find this style of hitting best because it's all you with no AI assistance.
Normal: You aim your swing manually with the blue bat cursor. This option will have the most realistic results and best hit variety because of the true bat on ball physics.


hopefully the animations are still great in this new game engine.

Not really good with the stick anymore played this on Hard- pitching I think Pitch Speed one tick above Normal. Great game better than The Show just wish there were more teams in the Nippon League. Looking forward to this.
