Run n' gun is still up and running at my local grocery store.
it's too expensive to play though.
Games last like 10 minutes and cost 2 dollars for 4 qrts.
It's still fun though.Comment

Re: Virtua nba
It never came out in america only in canada and japan, When i worked for ford they sent me to japan and i got to play it at one of the many arcades over there..It is made by segas visual concepts and it was so realistic( except for the sluggish controls) but it was so sweet when u cut from left to right the guy would put his right foot out then cut back the movement up and down the court was so real, the post moves where great, i just wish visual concepts used that as there basis for the game.. I am telling up it was so sweet i brought my video cam to the arcade and taped myself palaying and i watch it once in a while. I think if u have a search they may have video for you to watch.. Re: Virtua nba
HUGE bump I know, but didn't want to start a new thread.
I just found some youtube videos of this game and I'm amazed! The game looks great! What year is it from? Was it only released in Japan Canada?
Just like NBA Starting Five 2005, if it's a Japan(Canada)-only release, that's a HUGE waste of a game. These games seem like they put the old NBA Lives to shame.
The movement is so smooth and animations are pretty amazing!Last edited by youvalss; 11-12-2014, 10:39 PM.My Specs:

Re: Virtua nba
I saw a video of a guy running it on his arcade machine, looks great! I still don't understand why arcade basketball games always looked better and animated much better than the regular basketball video games.
Also, did the game have any sliders? Players edits? Was it possible to play a season? Or was it just a play-now arcade style game?
After a game I watched, it showed some highlights from different angles. One of the plays was a jumper where the angle was pretty low - looking up, and it showed the jumbotron - and there were players on it, so I'm starting to think that it may have been the only game where the jumbotron was actually showing the action...
EDIT:
Yeah, jumbotron is showing the action, as seen here...

I wonder if there are still guys at VC who worked on this game.Last edited by youvalss; 11-13-2014, 07:42 PM.My Specs:

Re: Virtua nba
I remember playing this in Japan. Took a pic too.
They had machines back to back and you could play against someone else on your own machine.
Was pretty decent for it's time but didn't have anything special (other than one of the first polygon bball games) to stand out from the crowd.
From memory is was quite similar to NBA Fastbreak 98 (PS1) also developed by VC I think.

Re: Virtua nba
^^ Nice. One thing about Japanese basketball games: It looks like they got player likeness (and/or accessories) very accurate. Same thing happened with NBA Starting Five 2005.
I think Fastbreak 98 is the same game as Action 98, which I played in the PC. One of the best games, minus the graphics (even for back then). I think the game had off-ball control. My Specs:
