Further, I'd be interested in any college b-ball sim that would allow me to sim a full season and then be the guy who pours over schedules and determines who gets in and who doesn't. Any suggestions?

Fast Break College Basketball 2010
I’m thinking about buying this. For anyone that has experience with the retail game, do you/can you have input on determining the field of 64? I love the idea of running a team, but I also like the idea of deciding the at-large teams and building the bracket. I’m assuming the answer would be no, since you could award your team a bid when it didn’t deserve it, but I thought I’d ask anyway.

Re: Fast Break College Basketball 2010
I really enjoy this game. It's fun to take over a team (rosters aren't real, but prestige is), plus you can edit all info in the editor. Game has lots of info and recruiting is a blast. It's a fun text-sim. I haven't seen the ability to pick who goes into the tournament, but I can check if you're still interested... -

Re: Fast Break College Basketball 2010
After playing around with the game yesterday, I saw nowhere to pick which teams go into the tournament.
The game is extremely customizable. You can customize players, coaches, teams (logos and all), conferences, pre-season and post-season tournaments, etc. Game is very similar to WMMA 2 (haven't played 3) in terms of customization and OOTP as well (not as clean and smooth as OOTP series though). But the customization is there...
Example:
I created two conferences (Elite West and Elite East) that comprised of existing independent teams as well as some top tier Division 2 programs. I've had a blast taking Alaska-Anchorage from the lowly prestige of 8 (out of 100) to 64...making and succeeding in the tournament quite a few times. Just a silly example but something that makes customization in these types of games well worth it.
I have yet to run across a real-roster mod, which is unfortunate... I've debated to try and create a real-world mod...might still try but we shall see how much time I have.
Game is still being worked on with a recent patch released just 3 days ago (4-11-11)
Pretty active forum for the game: http://www.fbbgames.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=24
Just a few more facts about the game:
Game comes with schools with fake nicknames...so you have to go in and change nicknames to correct.
Logos are also default fake letters, but there are lots of logo packs that are easy to download so the real logo appears in your game.
If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask...Comment

Re: Fast Break College Basketball 2010
If you go to FOFC they have a very active thread for FBCB 2010. I've also created a D2 Mod that is posted over there. Also there are D1 mods that have all the proper nicknames.
Generally I think no one has done a real player mod because in 4 seasons they are all gone, I think somebody did one for the 2004 season and another for the 2007 season but nothing more recent.PS4 Username: grismosw7Comment

Re: Fast Break College Basketball 2010
I just came across this game this morning actually when I was searching for PC college basketball games.
What is a "text sim" game?
I still play college hoops 2k8 religiously as I love the dynasty mode, are there any comparisons with these two games.
I do not "play" the game (haven't till this day) I am only interested in "coach mode" and running my program from an administration standpoint, and then making the scheme changes, substitutions throughout the course of the game. Would I enjoy this game, or is this more of a simple college bball game where you just play?
Is there a franchise mode (I'm assuming there is) and is it deep and in depth? How many seasons does it go?
Are there any downfalls to the game? I do not need real rosters as I enjoy games deep into seasons with generated recruits anyways.
I'm trying to figure out what this game is all about, as PC games in my experience aren't usually as detailed as console, and I don't know what Text sim is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will check out that board to see what I can find.Last edited by hazey; 04-28-2011, 05:18 PM.Comment

The game really shines for the GM type who like to oversee the program so to speak. I'm not sure the is a limit to how many seasons you can go. It really does sound like a great match to what you're looking for in a game. Don't let the words "text-sim" scare you off. It has a GUI ofcourse and the text part is really just that you don't control the gameplay with a game pad or joystick.Favorite Sports Teams

Re: Fast Break College Basketball 2010
Anyone still playing this game. Love this thing.
I have different conference setups if anyone wants them.
And I base my school prestige on about 20 years worth of data. Maybe more, been awhile since I reviewed my spreadsheet.
I personally don't care for the new big conference setups, so I use one from probably 10 or 15 years ago.Comment
