I don't know what kind of game could come of this but I figure if we can come up with a good number here, a developer might just be willing to take a chance. I would personally pledge $500 of my own money to fund a Kickstarter project for a College Basketball game. I know it's a long shot but at least we can say we tried.

College Hoops Kickstarter Pledge page
I had this idea pop into my head just now and I thought it could become a cool idea. OperationSports.com is the preeminent sports video game website on the Internet so this needs to be started here because we have the numbers. Kickstarter has and is creating video games out of nowhere, niche gaming may not have big numbers but we are passionate about our genre. Even major developers are using Kickstarter to fund certain games.

Re: College Hoops Kickstarter Pledge page
There is a reason there isn't a lot of Kickstarter sports games. Sports games are very hard to create to simulate the real thing. That is why only the big companies have had success with sports games. You would have to raise a lot more than the normal kickstarter goal for a good college basketball game to be developed.
However, I do think this is a great idea. The biggest thing is you need is people with experience in creating similar games. A lot of people (including myself) have toyed with a created first person shooters and RPG games BUT a sports game is at an entirely different level.
For kickstarter success you need some type of prototype to convince the masses to donate to your cause. A simple idea isn't going to cut it. If we can find someone that has experience and the skill to do this then it is a real possibility.Last edited by ELDoro; 02-24-2013, 01:51 AM. -

Re: College Hoops Kickstarter Pledge page
With the NCAA license, 2k stopped getting it because it was just too expensive to purchase for the amount of game units they were moving. Just a simple matter of not being worth the investment.Comment
