What was better Madden or ESPN NFL 2K

the NFL signed the contract. both games had major flaws and both games did some things extremely well. madden destroyed espn when it came to sales figures though. madden has become part of the culture now, ESPN was definately the better "sim". but EA's product was a more enjoyable experience. especially for the non-hardcore.

Both games had major flaws. So I would say they're even.

If only we could have a game that combined NFL2K's gameplay with MADDEN's franchise/owner mode.

That would be the perfect game.


Oh and as for preference i'd say ESPN.

I owned both, but never really got into ESPN too much. I've been a Madden fan for years, so thats what I stuck with.

I've played football games for about 10 years. I was an EA person most of that time until a few years ago when I switched to ESPN. I think ESPN 2k5 was the best football game ever made. It seemed more realistic to me. EA has gotten lazy in recent years. It seems like they put out the same game every year. They just update the rosters and add some gimicky feature. I like ESPN because it feels like I can set up draws and screens. It just feels like football. In madden everyone just finds their money plays and constantly runs them.

I enjoyed ESPN NFL 2K5 slighty better although the AI on defense was even worse vs QB's then Madden because there was no QB spying in ESPN, running animations looked like robots, and the Franchise mode has always been better in Madden. However, I just liked it better then Madden.
