I am now an 8th grade American History teacher in Memphis...
Also, I am the asst football coach...this could either be really cool or terrible...not sure...I hope I get some aspect of control over some aspect of the game, ie defense, or the running game, etc...

Congrats, thats pretty cool. I still have a small desire to be a coach at the HS or College level, but I dont want to teach as well

. Not sure what an assistant coach will do...but at my HS we have a Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator, Special Teams, and Lineman coach. If my school is any indication then you should have a pretty important job.

Congrats! I too hope to start coaching in the next few years after I graduate, hopefully at my old HS but I wouldnt mind looking at other schools (possibly the school my old head coach is at now)...but I hope to start out coaching WRs or DBs then working my way up into the offensive coordinator spot tehn head coach when i get old

....but it all depends on my job and all that

We have two coaches, including myself...I am technically asst, but I run the show on offense....though it isn't much of a show yet...we are two weeks behind all the other teams....
lost first game 22-0...told team they played it like they practiced it, and deserved every bit of what they got, made them say thank you to the other team for the butt-kicking...
as a result, i have found new leaders, a new QB, and it appears some renewed desire...we are breaking down to basics at practice on Sun...have things to fix, had a volunteer who turned out to be a total prick...tried to teach 8th and 9th graders three point Z passing routes, while their ins and outs and stops are pitiful....and he was a prick...

I'm coaching (asst. also) my old Jr. High. Its a pretty cool job for a guy who cant do it anymore. Its how I get my fix and help kids learn the game I love.

We are still a couple weeks away from our first game and teaching a 7th grader how to run our shotgun spread offense.

I'm a varsity asst. coach, (linebackers) for a div. 1 school in Ohio. I'm in my second year here and I love every minute of it. Enjoy your season and the interaction with the kids, as that is what it is all about. Winning is also nice too, as we just won our season opener in blowout fashion 42-0. Good luck this season.
