Re: Renegades to fold?

So its true, today the league suspended operations on the Renegades for the 2006 season. I think this means that the team could possibly stay in Ottawa for next year if an owner can be found. But there will be a dispersal next week for the Renegades players, so I guess if things are figured out financially they will be an expansion team next year, again.

Re: Renegades to fold?

The Eugene Melnyk rumours won't go away (which is a good thing IMO) Apparently the city of Ottawa is willing to turn over operations of Frank Clair to any potential new owner. That's the sticking point for Melnyk as he's a smart guy. He'll wait til things are devalued to the point that he can get the stadium and revenues generated from said stadium for a very cheap price. It's what he did with the Senators as he waited til that franchise was on life support.

If there's any guy who can take a mothballed franchise and bring it back to glory it's Melnyk and I bet he even brings back the Rough Riders name to boot!
