Youth Football Coach Levels Kid

Did anyone see this? A damn shame, and yet another sign of parents going nutso over their kids' sports. The coach that came on the field was the father of the kid who got hit late...but that's still no excuse.

On PTI it was mentioned that he's facing charges of "felony assault on a minor" or something...with possible jail time. IMO, he should definately go to jail, six months at least. You can't let this guy walk or simply "ban" him from youth sports, as both a coach and spectator.

Hopefully that 36 year old man is real proud he managed to smash a 13 year old kid to the ground. I'm sure he feels like a champ today. What a role model he is for all the other kids on the football team.

Any grown man that decks a kid like that has serious issues and should not be out in society.

What a coward this guy is, he failed in his athletic career and is trying to live thorugh his son. He needs to spend some time in jail.

It's a moronic move on the father's part, but in a way, I can partly see where he is coming from.

The kid did get whaled on pretty hard, it wasn't anywhere near the ball, and play had ended for more than a second. I am by no means exonerating the father's actions, but I think if someone did that to my son, I would be pretty upset. Regardless, you can't go pushing and attacking other kids just because someone whaled on your own; as tempting as it might be to do so.

The fact that he was an assistant coach makes it especially unfortunate, because such a position comes with the understanding that you should be a role model as well.
