IMO 2K5, but your just asking to start a flamewar with this thread. As a beginner in football gaming I say don't fall into the Madden hype. We can't lose another innocent victim.

2K5 looks good and all but personally I felt the game wasnt very realistic and played like poop.Defense was a joke and passing wasnt much better.Which why online most people just ran ran ran.Madden isnt quite as nice graphically but a much better sim,however not so sure about their online thing.

And there are updated rosters for this season for K5 to download right?

So, with the rosters up to date on both games, wich one would be the best buy?

Man you can get a copy of 2k5 fr $1.99 bro !!..2k5 was a good game but I couldn't stand the horrible DB AI..and the running animations were horrible..Madden 07 is a decent game but it seems like if you played one madden you played them all...!!! it just got stale to me..same graphics gameplay etc....but you can't go wrong with either choice..You wil have a lot of roster updating with 2k5 though that's a pain within itself....

You wil have a lot of roster updating with 2k5 though that's a pain within itself....

I was thinking of downloading a updated roster from the forums... Won't update it all by myself

BUT, is it better than 2K5 so it warrant spending more money on it?

And if it is better, what is it that is better about it?

I've played both and I'll say this...

To me, ESPN is definately the better game graphically, and the running game felt right to me with how the holes open and close and the spacing was pretty good so that you can actually run between the tackles. I also like the animations in that game, especially the QB throwing and the tackling. However, its really difficult to play D against the pass compared to Madden (IMO). The bomb is not as big of an issue, but you can get nickled and dimed by a decent human opponent (CPU not so much). Madden, the passing game on both sides of the ball feel really good, and with out a doubt has the best franchise mode out of all the console football games...lots of depth.

The playcalling is a little deeper in ESPN 2k5 IMO, with the way you choose your line stunts and coverages separately. This was really cool for me, but may not be so important to a newcomer to the sport. Madden's playbooks are very deep as well, so that is about a wash.

I guess the easiest way for me to explain it is: ESPN plays more like actually playing football. Madden feels more like coaching football. So if you play on playing head-to-head, I'd choose ESPN. Single player, its Madden no doubt. But really, the cost of ESPN warrants copping both. Maybe get Madden '06 or something if your not sure. Can't really go wrong either way. Hope that helps...

Get both. Madden 07 for the X-Box is a good game. 2K5 IMO is a more realistic game, and with sliders that a lot of people have provided, the DB AI will become much improved. And I'm sorry, flame me, 2K5 is still a MUCH better game than Madden 07 on the 360.

As far as to why 2K5 is better, well IMO:

1. The running game is awesome. The running backs don't just run into lineman's back and keep running in (Mario) motion. They slide off to try and find a hole.

2. Presentation, Presentation, Presentation. The crowd, announcers, atmosphere, pre-game/post-game show, other game highlights...It submerges you in the game.

3. REAL GANG TACKLING!! Enough said.

4. No bombs away all game. (And now shotgun sound either)

For me the list can go on, but I'll let others list theirs.

I'm not a big Madden fan, but again I like what they did with the X-Box version of Madden 07. Which makes it even harder for me to fathom what in the hell happened to the 360 version. I guess exclusive rights has it advantages?

I agree, Madden's franchise mode is the best no question. I prefer 2K's short passing game as to Madden's bombs away approach. Again, I say get both then that way you can mix them up. I really wish I hadn't traded my X-Box in when I got my 360. I'm having football withdrawls!!
