Argos sign Mike McMahon

It's only a matter of time before Allen comes back, so that means McMahon will battle Eric Crouch for the backup job.

And based on what I saw from Crouch last season, he has the edge entering training camp.

Yeah but you never know Allen could decide to hang em up or go to another team (the latter is not likely) then the Argos will be up the creek. McMahon would be a pretty darn good CFL QB if only he had the arm strength which he doesn't.

I think Crouch will be the #2 as well.

The Toronto media likes to say the Argos should go after Casey Printers.

I don't see Allen leaving yet. He had some injury problems last season but he's still good enough to be a starter.

I think the McMahon signing closes the door on Bishop. I know the Argos are tired of him being late to camp because he also plays in the arena league.

Dave Dickenson doesn't exactly have great arm strength, but he's quite the CFL QB.

Very cool, I really liked Mike McMahon when he was in Detroit.

Which is why he relies on his receivers making the big RACs. I'm not saying he's crap because he isn't but the offenses he's been in have been pretty damn potent.

Arm strength is so overrated in QBs. If you throw to the right guy, making the right decisions, then you can be successful. There's a reason Dickenson has a couple MVP awards, the highest comp % in history, and one of the highest QB ratings in history. He rarely makes mistakes, and makes the right decision nearly every play.

Agreed, but......

You do need some arm strength which Dickenson does have at times. McMahon has never shown any consistency in how well/strong he throws the ball. In the CFL a sideline pass is equal to a 30 yard pass in the NFL. So you need to be more then a noodle armed QB.
