Mark Cohon named new CFL Commish

It's a shame that Tom Wright still isn't in charge. Off the field, the CFL really turned around under his leadership.

I've never even heard of Mark Cohon before. The CFL shouldn't return to Ottawa unless their is a owner with deep pockets and a certain amount of season tickets are sold.

The CFL salary cap also has to be addressed. Teams like the Lions, Argos, and Als basically ignored the cap.

I hope he expands the league out east. I'd really like to see a team in the maritimes, they certainley have the fan base. Quebec's fan base could also have another team in the province. Basically I just want to see more teams - since its my goal to make it to the CFL (more teams = better chances).

But the problem is ownership, more people have to step up.

Um...there's already a new cap. Tom Wright left the league with a 4.05 mil cap for each team. I think it's a 6 year deal for that. Cohon will need to enforce like you said.

Also I doubt Cohon will just go to Ottawa for the sake of it like Wright did the last time.

It's a shame Wright is gone because he did great things for the league. I don't know why the owners hated his guts so much but at least this Cohon guy seems to have the right pedigree as he's been involved in marketing for the NBA and MLB. He's also the son of the founder of McDonald's Canada. I'm sure he has the business acumen for the job but then again the last young commish the league hired was a doofus (Lysko)

Do you think you're versatile enough to be a SlotBack? Ithink most WRs in the CFL are American to be honest.

I can play slot (the running start allows me to become a better route runner out of that position because of my speed), but in university they don't put you there until you've leadrned the system and they've bulked you up.

In the 2006 CFL Draft there were two WR's from CIS schools drafted.

2005: 1 (there were only two WRs taken in the whole draft)
2004: 5
2003: 4
2002: 5

Thats quite a few for Canadian schools, and that doesn't include the number of slots that were taken who are Canadian.

I know that its a big thing to get drafted but that doesn't mean I'm not going to try as hard as I can to become one of the lucky few who do. I was highly rated coming out of High School, so I think it is somewhat realistic goal.

Even if I don't get drafted at least I'll have my degree.

I was talking about teams ignoring the current cap that is already in place. The cap needs to be enforced or else teams will continue to abuse it.
