yeah, it's just stupid...who would want to win like that? I'd feel like I hadn't earned it.

We ran that in practice in 8th grade once. I was on offense on another side of the field and we did it. Then the next day or maybe later that day I was on defense and the 'A' team tried to run it(I was on B ). They did it the exact same way, I was at LB and I just hauled *** to the other side of the field where he was walking and laid him out. Everyone just looked like I was a complete idiot and said "What? The ball was in play" and started laughing.



We had another trick play in little league basketball. The rule is you can't press until the 4th quarter, so defense can't cross the half court line. At the beginning of the 2nd or 3rd quarter if it was out ball, we would line up our offense on the wrong end. We would then throw the ball in and the defense thinking they can't press doesn't do anything. Our PG just took the ball and ran the other way for a free layup. It was awesome.

IMHO, all plays are trick plays. That's the BEAUTY of football. Every time you line up with a fullback and halfback and no damn well you are gonna air it out to a wide receiver, that's a trick. Every time you line up wide receivers and know without doubt you will be running the ball, that's a trick. Strategy. It's not my fault if the other team doesn't know the rules. Shame, shame for shame on the Coach that doesn't teach his Defense what the term "The ball is in play!" means. Obviously, the Refs knew what was up.

You've never coached little league, have you?

It's hard enough to get kids to understand that they can't move after getting into a stance, go downfield to block someone on a pass play, hit a longsnapper, and other things, let alone know that a center can hand the ball to the side while a QB is yelling wrong ball.

Though the play is illegal in high school and above.
