Re: New backbreaker developer diary

The first two vids show a lot about natural momentum and really reveals how important it is to incorporate this in a sports game. If you are playing Madden, pay attention to how easy it is to spin. You can spin like a top. It's very unrealistic.

Momentum isn't new to sports games. It's been done before, but what hasn't been done correctly, and what seems to be being done with Backbreaker is the absence of clipping during an animation. The third video completes the first two. If your user controlled player is shifting his weight or gaining momentum, he's naturally hindered by contact with another player on the field. He's not sucked into that player or able to quickly spin two or three times to avoid contact.

Re: New backbreaker developer diary

It was released yesterday at gamestop if you knew an employee. I bought it at a super secret location.

Its a good game, but lack of hand towels, the inability to change the length of your cleats, and the fact that the socks only have 7 variations had me trade it in. I gave it a shot, but I would much rather be able to use real life NFL players because without that any football game is completely unenjoyable and/or meaningless.

No, I think it comes out in Spring 08...but who knows for sure.

All they said is a 2008 release frame. It is rumored to be spring to mid summers though. Also, to one of the above questions, I do believe one of the devs said they incorporate muscle strength in to the equations also. There is a bit more information that the devs have said about it that are not in the diaries.

This game has me really excited. It might very well revolutionize the sports genre.
