I'm here thinking about all the football games that have come out over the years. Some good, and some VERY bad. But what if we could take the very best things out of the main franchises that have come out and create the ultimate football game? Well, here's our chance to find out. Here are 5 of the top football franchises IMO.

1. 2K
2. Madden
3. NFL Fever
4. Gameday
5. Tecmo

Let's take the best of these games and make the "perfect" football game. It doesn't have to be one from each, it can be one or more features or gameplay componets from one or all of the others. I'll start.

From 2K, I would take the line blocking, presentation, and the running game.

From NFL Fever I want the Towels and Hand Warmers...That's about all I cared for in NFL Fever.

From Madden, I would take the NFL and NFLPA licenses.

In all honesty, I've only played Madden (01, 02, 06, 07, unfortunately 08 on PS3). However, if I may use a feature from another EA game, I would like to take the team philosophy feature from Head Coach. I only played the demo, but the feature that allows us to customize the type of player at each position (balanced DE, pass rushing DE, etc. etc.) is the one that I would want. I would want it expanded, and I would want it to make a little more sense (e.g. prototype DE). I like the idea of players fitting into one scheme better than the other, and I want the CPU/AI to know when a player does not fit (like Dwight Freeney as a 3-4 DE). This is a feature I think should have been in Madden a while ago.

I couldn't do the Read and Lead passing in NFL Fever. I never got the hang of it. I never really used it.

I just played Fever again last night, and wow, it sucks after playing ESPN 2K5 for a month. It's so sloooooooooooow.

I loved Fever until I played ESPN 2K5. I played Fever more than Madden. Even though I think Madden was better than Fever.

- CPU Play-calling tendencies/A.I. and Franchise mode from NFL HeadCoach'09.
- Animations and line-play from APF2K8.
- Graphics and customization from Madden'09.

None of these would interest me much as I am more into the simming aspect and team building. With that in mind...

We have already seen the ultimate attempt in FPS Football. An updated version of FPS, with less bugs, and potentially a financial model would be highest on my buy list.

A collegiate version of Head Coach 09 would also be most welcome. I put higher odds on seeing this than ever seeing a game like FPS again.
