When he retired with several years left on his contract, the Lions demanded that he return $7.3 million of the bonus. Sanders refused, and the Lions sued and eventually won a judgment against him. On February 15, 2000, arbitrator Sam Kagel ruled that Sanders was in default of his bonus agreement and owed $5.5 million plus interest over the next three years.

I guess I never took in the scope of the drama surrounding his retirement! WOW.
He could have left Detroit a hero......The main issue I had was that he basically just quit on the team. He decided to quit after the draft so the Lions didn't draft a RB. Then he wanted to be released from his contract, which wouldn't have been a problem except he fled to England with his money. Had he demanded a trade or something it would have been different, but he just wanted to keep the cash and rumors back then were he was going to sign with the Redskins or Dolphins. Lions wouldn't release him of the contract because of the outstanding signing bonus. Very strange way to end a very good career.

He looks good on the field. Could really be a special running back.

in another video it says he is playing class 2A football so he isn't exactly going up against the best.

Its actually funny you say that because his daddy also looked very wobbly everytime he broke one for 60yds. Its the style I guess.
